4 DIRECTIONS FOR USE RESTRAINTS: DO NOT apply by aerial application. DO NOT tank-mix with any other product except a non-ionic surfactant. DO NOT apply if rain is expected within 48 hours after application. DO NOT apply when the wind speed is less than 3 kilometres per hour or greater than 20 kilometres per hour. CROP PEST RATE WHP CRITICAL COMMENTS Brassica vegetables: Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, Cabbage, Chinese cabbage, Cauliflower Cabbage white butterfly, Diamondback moth 400mL per ha 7 days Maintain a regular spray programme with alternative registered products. Commence SECURE applications midcrop before pests become entrenched and difficult to contact (e.g., before button formation in broccoli and heart closure in cabbage). Apply a maximum of two SECURE sprays per crop, 7 days apart. (See Resistance Management). In Brussels sprouts only, a second two-spray sequence may be made at least four weeks later, after the use of alternative mode-of-action products. Do NOT make more than four applications of SECURE per Brussels sprouts crop. Add a non-ionic surfactant at the registered label rate. Apply only as a high volume spray e.g., 500 to 1000 L/ha depending on crop growth stage. Secure 360SC Approved : 11 August 2004 Page 4 of 14

5 CROP PEST RATE WHP CRITICAL COMMENTS Apple, Twospotted mite 20 to 30 ml 14 days Do NOT apply to trees where there is Pear Peach per 100L 7 days any area where cattle may graze within 20 m downwind from the trees to be sprayed. Apply by dilute spraying equipment. Apply the higher rate when mites are at potentially damaging levels or when mite numbers are reaching the threshold for the area. As a guide, apply before 30% of pear leaves or 50% of apple or peach leaves are infested with mites. Apply the lower rate when Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is being practised and predatory mites are present. Ensure thorough coverage. Do NOT use against European red mite. If a second miticide application is needed, select one from a different chemical group. Do NOT apply a second spray of SECURE to the same block in the same season. Studies have shown that the mite predators Typhlodromus occidentalis and Typhlodromus pyri are either not affected at the recommended rates of application of SECURE, or will quickly recover numbers after treatment. Do NOT use SECURE when releases of Phytoseiulus persimilis have been made. NOT TO BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE, OR IN ANY MANNER, CONTRARY TO THIS LABEL UNLESS AUTHORISED UNDER APPROPRIATE LEGISLATION. WITHHOLDING PERIOD BRASSICA VEGETABLES : DO NOT HARVEST FOR 7 DAYS AFTER APPLICATION. DO NOT FEED TREATED VEGETABLES TO ANIMALS. PEACHES : DO NOT HARVEST FOR 7 DAYS AFTER APPLICATION. APPLES, PEARS : DO NOT HARVEST FOR 14 DAYS AFTER APPLICATION. DO NOT ALLOW LIVESTOCK TO GRAZE VEGETATION IN TREATED ORCHARDS OR CUT FOR STOCK FOOD. GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS Crop Care SECURE 360 SC Insecticide-Miticide is not an organochlorine, organophosphate, carbamate or synthetic pyrethroid. As no cross resistance has been recorded, SECURE will control diamondback moth and twospotted mite known to be resistant to other registered products. SECURE is predominantly a stomach acting insecticide and must be ingested by feeding insects. Use of effective scouting is recommended. Best results are obtained on diamondback moth when the product is applied to young insect populations before they are able to entrench or build into damaging numbers in the crop. Best results will be achieved on mites if SECURE is applied when numbers are increasing and before economically damaging levels occur. Secure 360SC Approved : 11 August 2004 Page 5 of 14

6 INSECTICIDE RESISTANCE WARNING GROUP 13A INSECTICIDE For insecticide resistance management SECURE 360 SC is a Group 13A insecticide. Some naturally-occurring insect biotypes resistant to SECURE 360 SC and other Group 13A insecticides may exist through normal genetic variability in any insect population. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the insect population if SECURE 360 SC or other Group 13A insecticides are used repeatedly. The effectiveness of SECURE 360 SC on resistant individuals could be significantly reduced. Since occurrence of resistant insects is difficult to detect prior to use, Crop Care Australasia Pty Ltd accepts no liability for any losses that may result from the failure of SECURE 360 SC to control resistant insects. SECURE 360 SC may be subject to specific resistance management strategies. For further information contact your local supplier, Crop Care Australasia Pty Ltd representative or local agricultural department agronomist. To minimise the chances of resistance developing, do NOT use more than 2 applications per year to any one crop of Brassica vegetables and 1 application per season to tree crops. Pesticides with alternative modes of action should be used as part of the pest control programme. APPLICATION Minimising Spray Drift Users must minimise spray drift onto adjoining pasture or any potential grazing land, to limit chemical residues in grazing livestock. In areas of risk, apply this product with droplets as large as practical using a spray with a volume median diameter (VMD) greater than 150 microns or by selecting a nozzle that will deliver fine-medium droplets according to the BCPC classification. Do not use nozzles producing very fine to fine droplets. Lower pressure will increase droplet size and reduce spray drift. When higher spray volumes are required, use higher capacity nozzles instead of increasing the pressure. Application when there are strong winds or no wind or when conditions are hot and dry will also increase spray drift. Do NOT direct spray above trees and always turn off outward pointing nozzles at row ends and outer rows. Do NOT apply when the wind speed is less than 3 kilometres per hour or greater than 20 kilometres per hour. Ensure thorough coverage of target foliage with well calibrated ground spray equipment only. Do NOT apply by aerial application. Brassica vegetables: Apply by tractor mounted boom fitted with nozzles to deliver a total spray volume of 500 to 1000L/ha, depending on crop size, with a droplet range of 150 to 400 microns VMD. Keep the boom as low as possible to provide even coverage. Apple, peach, pear: Apply using high volume application equipment set to produce spray droplets in the range of 100 to 250 microns VMD (noting the Minimising Spray Drift requirements above). Do NOT apply this product using low volume methods. Use a sprayer designed to apply high volumes of water up to the point of run-off and matched to the crop being sprayed. Set up and operate the sprayer to achieve even coverage throughout the crop canopy. Apply sufficient water to cover the crop to the point of run-off. Avoid excessive run-off. The required water volume may be determined by applying different test volumes, using different settings on the sprayer, from industry guidelines or expert advice. Add the amount of product specified in the Directions for Use table for each 100 L of water. Spray to the point of run-off. The required dilute spray volume will change and the sprayer set up and operation may also need to be changed, as the crop grows. RE-ENTRY PERIOD Do not allow entry into treated areas for 12 hours after treatment. When prior entry is necessary, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist, a washable hat and elbow-length PVC gloves. Clothing must be laundered after each day s use. Secure 360SC Approved : 11 August 2004 Page 6 of 14

7 CAUTION Export of treated commodities : Growers should note that Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) or import tolerances do not exist in all markets for labelled crops treated with SECURE 360 SC Insecticide-Miticide. Additionally, some export markets have established MRLs different to those in Australia. If you are growing crops for export, please check with Crop Care Australasia Pty Ltd for the latest information on MRLs and import tolerances BEFORE using this product. PROTECTION OF LIVESTOCK Dangerous to bees. DO NOT spray any plants in flower while bees are foraging. Assess the treatment area before application to identify any potential for spray drift to grazing land. Employ a spraydrift minimisation strategy to avoid drift onto adjoining properties or stock areas. If unexpected conditions cause spray drift to areas that could potentially be used for grazing by livestock, seek advice from Crop Care Australasia Pty Ltd. PROTECTION OF WILDLIFE, FISH, CRUSTACEANS AND ENVIRONMENT Dangerous to aquatic and terrestrial organisms. DO NOT contaminate watercourses, ponds, wetlands, reserves or parks with product or used containers. DO NOT spray fields adjacent to watercourses, ponds, wetlands, reserves or parks unless appropriate buffer zones exist. May adversely affect mite predators and other beneficial organisms. May adversely affect birds and native animals. STORAGE AND DISPOSAL Store in the closed, original container in a cool, well-ventilated area. Do not store for prolonged periods in direct sunlight. Rinse containers before disposal. Add rinsings to spray tank. Do not dispose of undiluted chemicals on site. Dispose of at a local authority landfill.
