Luckey Farmers Cooperative And The Gro-Mor Brand Luckey Farmers is a farmer-owned cooperative located in northwest Ohio providing agricultural services for its members. The company was organized in 11 by a group of farmers in Luckey, Ohio. The purpose of the cooperative was to provide a structural basis for the farmers to obtain products and market grain by pooling their human, financial, and physical resources. Our goal at Luckey Farmers is to help you be more profitable on every acre. Our seed guide is loaded with quality hybrids, varieties, traits, and the expertise to insure every product and concept in our guide. When you purchase seed from Luckey Farmers you are creating a partnership. The seed is where it starts, but fertility, weed control, crop rotation, and insect pressure all weigh-in when selecting the proper seed for the proper fields. We will do what is right for you with your best interest in mind at all times. Whether you are a long-time customer of Luckey Farmers, or are trying Gro-Mor seed for the first time, we would like to extend our thanks to you for placing your trust in our seed line and Luckey Farmers. Sincerely, The Luckey Farmers Agronomy Team 2

Corn Selection -Corn Product Considerations: -Yield -Emergence -Early vigor -Stalk & root strength -Drydown -Disease ratings -Remember to select hybrids from different genetic families to diversify your seed portfolio. -Use the rule when varying hybrids: -Plant 25% of your total corn acres one hybrid, plant 50% a second hybrid, and plant the remaining 25% a third hybrid. -No genetic family is better than another. -Each genetic family has strengths, weaknesses & weather preferences. -Use traits as a tool to maximize & protect yield & maximize gross return per acre. 5

Corn Replant Decision Guide Information Needed: -Original target plant population/intended plant stand -Plant stand after damage -Uniformity of plant stand after damage -Original planting date -Possible replanting date -Likely replanting pest control and seed costs Should You Patch in a Poor Stand? -If you replant within 2 weeks of planting the original, patching-in may be a viable option. -Yields will be similar to those from a uniform-emerging replanted stand, if relatively uniform plant spacing is achieved within the row between the old and new plants. -Within two weeks of planting, it is often too early to determine what the final stand will be (and whether patching will be needed). -If you replant within three weeks after the intial planting, yield potential is about 10% greater if you tear up the field and start over with an even emerging stand. Balance this possible yield increase against the additional cost of tillage, seed, and dryer fuel. Should You Plant Stands with Uneven Emergence? -If the delay in emergence is less than two weeks, replanting will have a minimal effect on yields regardless of the pattern of unevenness. -If one half or more of the plants in the stand emerge three weeks late or later, then replanting may increase yields by up to 10%. To decide whether to replant in this situation, estimate both the expected economic return of the increased yield compared to your replanting costs and the risk of emergence problems with the replanted stand. 1

The Agrisure Viptera 3111 trait stack offers unsurpassed multi-pest control of 14 above and below ground corn pests, helping protect your seed investment from emergence to harvest. Nationally, hybrids with the Agrisure Viptera 3111 trait stack delivered a.3 bu/a advantage under ear feeding insect pressure. With the Agrisure Viptera 3111 trait stack, you get MORE CONTROL of MORE INSECTS for MORE YIELD. 20 Copyright of Syngenta

Corn Refuge Management An important component of a successful management plan is to plant a block of corn that does not control the target pest(s), known as a refuge, near your insect protected hybrids. The refuge sustains a population of susceptible target pests to mate with any rare resistant species that may emerge from these same or nearby corn hybrids. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requires a refuge on every farm that plants insect protected hybrids. Failure to plant the appropriate refuge jeopardizes your continued access to Agrisure technology. A signed and returned Agrisure Stewardship Agreement, which includes your agreement to implement an IRM Program, is required prior to planting corn hybrids with Agrisure traits. 23 The Benefits of New Seed -Convenience: -Ensures varietal purity -Reliable seed supply in many maturities -Access to the most elite germplasm -Economics of New Seed vs. Bin-Run -Average loss of 10-15% cleanout at harvest for bin-run seed -Handling and transportation costs for bin-run (approx.$.35 - $.5/bushel) -Bin-run planting rates are generally 15% higher than new certified seed -New seed yields an average of 1. bushel/ac. more than bin-run (Univ. yield trials range from bu/ac.) -Limited Warranty Benefits -Dealer agronomic support before and after the sale -Risk managament benefits of Roundup Rewards (over $600 million paid to growers since 1) -New Innovations -Monsanto is 100% committed to agriculture and our customer s success -The Beyond the Seed Program was launched by the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA) to raise awareness and understanding of the value that goes beyond the seed. The future success of U.S. agriculture depends upon quality seed delivered by an industry commitment to bring innovation and performance through continued investment. 30 30 Soybean Population Effect On Yield Key Facts: -Higher seed prices, improved planters and weed management programs have led soybean growers to be more aware of the importance of seedling rates and optimal plant population at harvest. -There appears to be no economic advantage to harvest populations greater than, or less than, 100, ,000 plants per acre. -Economics, however, should be considered carefully when striving for higher harvest populations since seed is expensive. -Timely management is more critical for low plant populations. Summary: -A final population of 100, ,000 uniformly spaced plants per acre is recommended for fields in Ohio. -Accuracy of the planting equipment, time of planting, seed quality, tillage method, soil type, weed management programs, and the producer s management skills all effect the relationship between seedling rate and final stand. -Establishing precise plant populations is not critical because the soybean plant readily adapts to a thinner stand. -On average, producers can acheive 4.5 bu./acre more yield by planting soybeans in 15 inch vs. 30 inch row spacing across all seedling rates. -A 5-10% improvement in stand can be gained when using a fungicide/ insecticide seed treatment combination. -Fungicide/insecticide seed treatment combinations can increase yield signifcantly if a field has a high population of bean leaf beetles.
