3 NTRP: The Process Identify the needs of the country Prioritize : Stakeholder consultation Identify mission oriented well defined/themes/programmes/projects Solicit proposals for the identified projects from multidisciplinary teams Planning workshop to present proposals in detail - prepare work plans, indicators etc. Implementation with close monitoring November

8 NTRP: Food Security Programme 01 Continuous mapping of Food and Agricultural production, marketing and supply, and identification of validated processes and strategies to ensure food security at national and provincial levels Project 1: Development of web based crop forecasting system in Sri Lanka Project 2: A Social Life Network to enable farmers to meet the varying food demands of the population, by providing needed information just in time and better monitoring and management of crop production November

12 NTRP: Food Security Programme 5 Development of an integrated food production system to enhance household food security in resettlement and poverty stricken areas Project 1: Development of Household Food Security models for poverty stricken areas of Sri Lanka Project 2: Development of sustainable integrated food production systems to enhance household food and nutritional security, economic growth and livelihood of resource poor families in the Northern Region of Sri Lanka November

13 NTRP: Food Security Research Contracts awarded for a period of one year, renewable up to the total project period of 3-5 years, based on satisfactory progress Individual work plans prepared and agreed upon at 1 st Research Coordination Meeting - RCM Each Contract holder is expected to submit a report at the end of each year (of the contract period) 2 more RCMs will be held, one towards the middle of the programme and the other at the end The 2 nd meeting will review progress and prepare work plans for the proceeding 18 months Final meeting will be to present results, conclusions and recommendations Steering committee members will be assigned project(s) for advice, guidance and monitoring November
