No. 171/ ) Forward Indian Agriculture has made rapid strides in agriculture since independence and reached to a level of self sufficiency. There has been a paradigm shift in Agriculture from productivity to profitability, subsistence to commercial agriculture, mono cropping to crop diversity, supply driven to demand driven, exploitative to sustainable agriculture and commodity oriented to fanning system. In order to cope-up with the present day requirement the agriculture graduates should be practically well versed with the farming situations, existing rural set up and transfer of technology system. Agricultural education is a dynamics one, which is undergoing change in a very rapid manner to meet the need of the society. The students of agriculture are taught well on basic and applied issues of science and technology; however, they do not possess adequate self-confidence in taking farming as a business. Under RAWE programme, the students are exposed to natural setting of the village situations, works with the farm families, identify their problems and make use of various extension tools for transferring the latest agricultural technologies. In order to understand RAWE programme, a practical manual is essential to serve as a guide for the students as well as teachers. We appreciate the untiring efforts of Dr. Anoop Badoni and all those who helped in bringing out this manual. We are sure that the manual will serve as a guide book to all those who are interested to acquire new skills in different areas related to Agriculture. Agriculture students primarily to understand the rural situations, status of Agricultural technologies adopted by farmers, prioritize the farmer s problems and to develop skills & attitude of working with farm families for all-round development in rural area This manual will helps to equip the students in gaining suitable rural work experience in agriculture and allied aspects. The main features of this manual prescribed for students of B.Sc.
