The increase is mainly attributed to increase in prices of pulses and to some extent the prices of oilseeds. During the previous year this index was 1188 and 1229 points in June 2015 and September 2015 respectively.

Higher decrease in the index of Oilseeds and Other Food Articles has resulted decrease in the index of Food Articles. 4 Consumer Price Index Numbers for Industrial Workers of Central Series : Karnataka (Base Year 2001=100) Centre / Months Apr-16 May-16 Jun-16 Jul-16 Aug-16 Sep-16 Bengaluru Belagavi Hubballi- Dharwad Mercara Mysuru Source : Labour Bureau, Ministry of Labour and Employment, GOI, Shimla Among 5 centres of central series, Belagavi and Mysuru centres recorded the highest decrease in index i.e., a decrease by 9 points in both the centres in September 2016 over June During the corresponding period of the preivious year Hubballi-Dharwad centre recorded the highest increase in index of 5 points followed by Bengaluru and Mysuru centres by 2 points. In Karnataka, CPI-IW moved to 6885 points in September 2016 from 7004 points in June 2016, recorded an decrease of 119 points i.e. an decline of 1.70% and the corresponding increase during the previous year was 1.42%. 7 Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers : All India & Karnataka (Base Year =100) Months All India Karnataka Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Source : Labour Bureau, Ministry of Labour and Employment, GOI, Shimla Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labourers at All-India level, the general index has increased from 848 in April 2016 to 873 in September 2016, showing a rise of 2.95%. Where as in Karnataka the general index moved to 996 in September 2016 from 962 in April 2016 to showing a rise of 3.53%.
