The world population and its demands will keep growing, while the planet s resources are finite. If nothing changes, we will need the resources of almost three of our planets to meet the demands of the population one of them being an increasing appetite for meat, fish, eggs, and dairy products. Simply producing more and more will not work. That s why we need to produce more from less with efficient feed solutions for balanced growth. Today, we might not have all the answers to the questions the future will bring with it. But we will get there together with our customers. By offering vitamins, carotenoids, enzymes, organic acids, clays and omega-6 s, we can help make smaller quantities of feed nourish more animals. It aims to contribute substantially towards making the production of meat, milk, fish, and eggs more transparent, and offers improvement to everyone involved. Our organic acids help prevent feed spoilage, and enzymes allow more productive use of forage crops, so that less corn, soy, and grains are needed for animal feed. 11 RUMINANTS. We re developing feed additives to keep animals energetic and productive. Lutrell is just one of many examples. Its omega-6 s help to reduce the strain of lactation on cows. This keeps cows feeling better while producing more and better milk. Other BASF products improve the quality of silage and prevent feed spoilage. 12 PIGS. Our products help pigs to better digest and utilize their food as well as keeping feed hygienic and fresh. We provide what pigs need to grow, stay vital and eventually supply high-quality meat. The pioneering phytase Natuphos, for example, improves digestion of plant phosphorous. This helps to avoid adding inorganic phosphorus, and preserves resources as well as the environment. 13 POULTRY. BASF s feed additives help poultry, such as laying hens and broilers, to make better use of the energy provided by their feed. Other products provide an optimal supply of nutrients and work to prevent parasites and fungi from contaminating the feed.
