9 Have we a problem? A modern sow should last 6 litters Gross margin 6 x 243= 1458 Average European clients Litters Av. Rest of World clients Litters 9

10 Target gm/sow = 1458 Total Dfii Deficit % GM Average European clients 4.1 x % GM Rest of 3.4 x 243 World % 10

11 Target 6 litters/sow By her first crop of weaners my clients have invested 360/sow ($720) of their hard earned capital. Assuming they recoup this on their 1 st litter (many of them do) they are still losing out between one third to nearly one half of the subsequent POTENTIAL INCOME from this investment - by too short a sow lifetime. 11

12 Yes- we have a problem! 12
