9 FINANCING AND FARMING HAS CHANGED Let's rewind to the 190s and 1990s. Those of you farming at that time probably remember it well. A recession occurred, interest rates were 1920 percent, land values decreased, dairy prices decreased, and technology wasn t readily used. Many banks and financial institutions called agriculture loans in fear of potential bankruptcy, and farms were selling out. The survival of the family farm was in jeopardy. Let's fast forward to 201. How times have changed! Everything from how farming to financing is done is completely different. Modern technology has taken over! Farms have gotten bigger, land rents and values have increased, and demographics have changed. Production agriculture, the way business is done and even input financing have changed. Input costs are high, and interest rates are climbing. Many agricultural businesses and suppliers now have means for financing and offer tools to help stretch your money longer. Convenience credit and discounted interest rate programs for crop inputs are heavily used with a buy now, pay later approach. Times are tight, so managing your farm risk along with getting the most bang for your buck is essential! Do you know about Verity Business Solutions? By teaming up with Landmark Services Cooperative, we provide products, services and resources that help keep you profitable. Semiflex ear type supports variable planting densities; optimum performance achieved at moderate plant populations. Use of a foliar fungicide is recommended when significant leaf disease pressure is expected. Very good performance from east to west in silage growing areas. When storing TMF hybrids in a pile or a bunker, recommended moisture levels for harvesting range from 65 percent to 6 percent; for bags, 62 percent to 6 percent.
