4 The Experts Anne Alix has been the European Risk Management Leader at Dow AgroSciences since She has 17 years of experience in risk assessment of PPPs and has previously led the environmental fate and ecotoxicology unit at ANSES. Yannick Bayona is an Ecotoxicological Risk Assessor in the Regulated Products Department at ANSES in France. After his PhD on the effects of chemicals at the aquatic communities scale in mesocosms, he joined ANSES in Paul J. Van den Brink is a Professor of Chemical Stress Ecology and works at the Research Institute Wageningen Environmental Research (Alterra) and the Aquatic Ecology and Water Quality Management Group of Wageningen University, both belonging to the Wageningen University and Research. Paul van den Brink is presently an Associate Fellow of the Canadian River Institute, honorary visiting professor at the University of York and visiting professor at the South China Normal University. Theo Brock is employed at Wageningen University and Research to scientifically underpin the prospective environmental risk assessment procedures for pesticides and other contaminants in freshwater ecosystems. Currently he is the Vice-Chair of the PPR Panel of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). He actively participated in the working groups that drafted the EFSA PPR Aquatic Guidance Document and the EFSA PPR Opinion on sediment ERA, the EFSA SC Opinion on covering recovery in ERA and the EFSA FA Guidance Document on ERA of feed additives. Mark A. Clook has worked for CRD-HSE and its predecessor (PSD) for over 25 years and has in that time been involved in many activities related to ecotoxicological risk assessment. His latest involvement was in contributing to the EFSA Guidance Document on bees. Peter Dohmen is a Senior Ecotoxicologist at the Agricultural Research Centre of BASF in Limburgerhof/ Germany. Achim Gathmann is the Head of the Unit Environment in the Department of Plant Protection Products at The German Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL). He holds a Ph.D. in Biology and his key qualifications are agroecology, plant protection, biological control and risk assessment of PPPs and GMOs. Mick Hamer has almost 40 years experience working for Syngenta and its legacy companies in the field of ecotoxicology, environmental fate and risk assessment. Phil Jarvis is currently the Head of Farming at the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust s Allerton Project, where he has worked since 1992, originally concentrating on managing the farm. In 2002 Phil took a more active role in the Allerton Project s research and education activities. Deborah Maximo is an Environmental Analyst and has been working at IBAMA s Unit for ERA of pesticides since She has also been a steady member of IBAMA s stakeholder working group for the discussion of proposals and procedures for aquatic risk assessment for pesticides in Brazil. Deborah Meier is currently the Head of Regulatory Affairs at Andermatt Biocontrol AG in Switzerland. Coming from a scientific background in agronomy she has previously held a position as Technical and Regulatory Affairs Manager. Petter Melin has a background as Researcher and Associate Professor in Microbiology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. From 2013 to 2017 he has been working at the Swedish Chemicals Agency working all aspects of risk assessments of biopesticides. Benedikt Schmidt is a Research Group Leader at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, and a Scientific Collaborator at Info Fauna Karch, the Swiss Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Programme. He works on conservation biology and population ecology of amphibians. Noa Simón Delso is a Veterinarian and Researcher and has been working at the Belgian CARI (Centre Apicole de Recherche et Information) since She provides scientifictechnical advice to the association Bee Life European Beekeeping Coordination. Franz Streissl is a Senior Scientific Officer in the Pesticide Unit of the European Food Safety Agency. The focus of his work is on developing Guidance Documents for pesticide risk assessments (e.g. the Guidance Document on the risk assessment for bees). In the past he was responsible for assessment of environmental risks of pesticides at national and at the European level. He has contributed to a large number of governmental reports, presentations at conferences and workshops. He has an in-depth knowledge of the regulatory framework and risk assessment procedures of pesticides. Christopher John Topping is a Professor of Ecological Modelling at the Department of Bioscience at Aarhus University and a member of EFSA s PPR panel and various EFSA workgroups, and is the developer of the forthcoming EFSA honey bee model ApisRAM. Mark Whittaker has a PhD in entomology and is an established expert on the registration of biopesticides. He is the Managing Director of APIS, a specialist contract research lab for microbial safety testing. Christian Wolf is a Biologist and has been working in the area of ecotoxicology for over 20 years. He is the CEO of tier3 solutions.
