This hybrid showed outstanding yield performance in 2016 Monsanto Field Scale Trials, while offering resistance to clubroot pathotypes 3, 2, 5, 6, 8. Another key practice in protecting your farm from clubroot is scouting! We need to scout regularly throughout the growing season for this disease. Gull symptoms on the roots can show up before bolting - around swathing timing the disease will be most obvious. Keep in mind that field entrances are likely where clubroot will show up first. Photo provided by Syngenta Quicker start, stronger finish - For a canola crop with increased root growth and leaf area, and higher yield potential, order your DEKALB brand canola seed pre-treated with JumpStart inoculant, a product from Monsanto BioAg. JumpStart is an inoculant containing the naturally occurring soil fungus Penicillium bilaiae (P. bilaiae). P. bilaiae grows along the plant root, releasing phosphate bound in the soil, making it more available for the crop to use. JumpStart promotes greater phosphate availability, which results in early vigour, greater stress tolerance and earlier, more even maturity and ultimately higher yield potential. In 67 independent large-plot research trials JumpStart inoculant averaged 6% higher yield over untreated.* *Results from Western Canada from Individual results may vary. usejumpstart.ca P.bi. = Penicillium bilaiae P = Phosphate Ca = Calcium Freeing Phosphate Penicillium bilaiae releases bound mineral forms of soil and fertilizer phosphate, making it more readily available for the plant to use. 11 MONSANTO TRAITS Monsanto Traits. Driving Innovation. We re working hard to develop and deliver products that help you to be more productive and more profitable. The agricultural challenges of today provide opportunities for Monsanto traits to benefit you and the land you farm. Upcoming trait products will significantly improve yield potential by helping protect your crops against the devastation caused by diseases, drought, pests, and weeds. By increasing yields, we can help improve on-farm productivity allowing farmers to meet the growing global demands for food, feed, and fuel. DEKALB GENUITY ROUNDUP READY CANOLA ROUNDUP READY Weeds aren t to be feared. They are to be controlled. The Genuity Roundup Ready canola system arms you with one of the best tools for weed control - including pesky weeds like cleavers and wild oats. With flexible application timing & fewer temperature constraints it allows you more good spray days in a season because we know you ve got a lot of stuff to do! It s hard working, and easy to use and tank-mix. Tank mixing with multiple modes of action will help you employ sustainable management practices. DEKALB VT DOUBLE PRO RIB COMPLETE CORN Above-ground control of yield-robbing insects. The combination of DEKALB genetics and advanced trait technology makes DEKALB VT Double PRO RIB Complete corn a great option for your fields. You get dual modes of action to control above ground pests, including European corn borer, corn earworm and fall armyworm. All this, plus the simplicity and convenience of RIB Complete, our single-bag refuge solution. DEKALB VT DOUBLE PRO RIB COMPLETE CORN AT A GLANCE: Dual modes of action for above ground protection from European corn borer, corn earworm and fall armyworm Refuge in the bag convenience and simplicity For more information on Monsanto corn traits please visit To help preserve the benefits of our trait technology, an Insect Resistance Management (IRM) plan must be part of every farmer s production strategy. Farmers who purchase corn products that are not designated as RIB Complete required to plant a refuge that is appropriate for that product. As part of the IRM plan for RIB Complete corn, experts recommend that growers incorporate crop rotations (out of corn), use of pyramided traits for below ground pests and, when appropriate, use of insecticides to minimize selection of resistant populations. Farmers should monitor their RIB Complete corn fields for targeted insect pests and contact their local Monsanto representative, retailer, or Monsanto s Technical Support line at if they observe any unusual performance problems. 12 OUTSMART WEEDS IN 3 STEPs Managing resistance isn t about using less glyphosate; it s about using herbicides effectively. Here s how: Mixtures work best. Tank mixes have been shown to be more effective than alternating single-mode applications (AKA rotating herbicides) when it comes to managing herbicide resistance Tank mix at least once per growing season. Add another effective mode of action to the tank with glyphosate. Group 1 and 2 herbicides are considered high risk, as many weed species are resistant to these herbicides. Using them can put more pressure on glyphosate to control tough weeds such as kochia, wild oats and cleavers. Don t rely solely on glyphosate or any one mode of action to control them. 1 about resistance and how it develops Know the truth Spice up your mix Add another effective mode of action to the tank Diversify Your Crop Rotation 2 Take advantage of pre-seed options. It s your easiest opportunity to include a tank mix in your herbicide program million Roundup Equivalent Litres were applied in the spring of Of those applications, 75.8% is applied alone, 2 which puts farmers at risk for selecting for resistance. 3 Grow three or more different crops in your rotation. It can help break cycles of disease, insects and weeds and give you more herbicide options. Weeds outsmart habits, not systems. Herbicide-tolerant crops don t cause resistance. The way we use them can. Visit MonsantoCMS.ca for more resistance insight and chemistry recommendations. 1 Beckie and Reboud, Selecting for Weed Resistance: Herbicide Rotation and Mixture. Weed Technology, 23: AgData 2016, Glyphosate BPI Report ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW PESTICIDE LABEL DIRECTIONS. Tank mixtures: The applicable labeling for each product must be in the possession of the user at the time of application. Follow applicable use instructions, including application rates, precautions and restrictions of each product used in the tank mixture. Monsanto has not tested all tank mix product formulations for compatibility or performance other than specifically listed by brand name. 13 References: CORN GR/SU/IS The hybrid/herbicide combination can result in plant height reduction, stand loss and suspected yield loss under very adverse environmental conditions, high rates or extreme soil ph levels or organic content. Use of drop nozzle spraying for postemergence herbicides or planting in warm soils for incorporated herbicides may avoid interactions. Consult your DEKALB dealer for additional information. 1 TARGET POPULATION Final plant population suggestions are based on medium to high yield environment. In fields with lower yield potential consider targeting slightly lower population. Adjust planting rate to suit individual field conditions. 2 HERBICIDE SAFETY Ratings are based on observations and research using herbicides at and above labeled rates to simulate extreme environmental conditions, misapplication and adverse soil ph or organic content. Either no adverse effects from the hybrid/ herbicide combination were noted or only slight damage could be noted under adverse conditions or herbicide application at higher than label rates.
