Frelizon fungicide Important changes since last printing New product. Formulation A suspension concentrate containing 160g/l penthiopyrad and 80g/l picoxystrobin. Recommended crop(s) Winter wheat and spring wheat (not durum or red), winter barley and spring barley (including undersown with grass/clover), winter oats and spring oats. Target weeds/pest/disease Wheat: Septoria tritici, brown rust. Barley: Net blotch, Rhynchosporium. Oats: Crown rust. Use rate Up to 1.25 l/ha. Water volume and spray quality Apply in l/ha of water as a MEDIUM spray quality at a pressure of 2-3 bar. Buffer Zone Information Do not allow direct spray from horizontal boom sprayers to fall within 10 metres of the top of the bank of a static or flowing water body or within 1m of the top of a ditch which is dry at the time of application. Aim spray away from water. This crop is not eligible for buffer zone reduction under the LERAP horizontal boom sprayers scheme. Rainfastness Rainfast 2 hours after application, provided good drying conditions. Limit to number of applications Wheat, Barley and Oats 2 per crop. Latest time of application Wheat: Apply up to the end of flowering (GS69). Barley and Oats: Apply up to the end of heading (GS59). Pack 5 litres. Area treated per pack 4 ha at maximum label dose. MAPP No fungicide Frelizon 123

Important information and restrictions IMPORTANT INFORMATION Field of use: FOR USE ONLY AS AN AGRICULTURAL FUNGICIDE. For use on: Maximum Maximum Latest time individual dose: number of of application: treatments: Wheat 1.25 L/ha 2 per crop GS69 (end of flowering) Barley, Oats 1.25 L/ha 2 per crop GS59 (end of heading) Other specific restrictions: To reduce the risk of resistance developing in target diseases the total number of foliar applications of products containing either SDHI or Qol fungicides made to any cereal crop must not exceed two. READ THE LABEL BEFORE USE. USING THIS PRODUCT IN A MANNER THAT IS INCONSISTENT WITH THE LABEL MAY BE AN OFFENCE. FOLLOW THE CODE OF PRACTICE FOR USING PLANT PROTECTION PRODUCTS. 124 Frelizon fungicide

Restrictions FRELIZON should not be applied to any crop suffering from stress as a result of drought, waterlogging, low temperatures, nutrient or lime deficiency or other factors reducing crop growth. Avoid application in either frosty or hot, sunny weather conditions. Do not apply more than two foliar applications of SDHI or QoI containing products to any cereal crop. To protect non-target insects/arthropods respect an untreated buffer zone of 5 metres to non-crop land. Following crop restrictions There are no following crop restrictions. General information FRELIZON contains penthiopyrad, a broad-spectrum fungicide from the carboxamide group and picoxystrobin (a QoI fungicide) and controls a range of cereal diseases. Carboxamides are classified as succinate dehydrogenease inhibitor (SDHI) by the Fungicide Resistance Action Committee (FRAC). FRELIZON shows good crop safety, disease control and maintenance of green leaf area which results in significant yield benefits. FRELIZON is best used as a protectant treatment or in the earliest stages of disease development. fungicide Frelizon 125

Directions for use Crops/varieties and timing FRELIZON may be used on all winter and spring crops of wheat, barley and oats. It may also be applied to barley under-sown with grass and clover. FRELIZON may be applied on barley and oats from the beginning of stem elongation (GS30) up to the end of heading (GS59). FRELIZON may be applied on wheat from the beginning of stem elongation (GS30) up to the end of flowering (GS69). Best results will be achieved from applications made as a protectant treatment or in the early stages of disease development before it spreads to new growth. Up to 2 treatments of FRELIZON may be applied to a crop. If, following a disease risk assessment or the use of appropriate decision support systems, a second treatment is required, this may be applied after an interval of 3-4 weeks. FRELIZON is accepted by the BBPA for use on crops for malting. Crop safety FRELIZON is safe to recommended crops if used as directed. Rate of use Apply FRELIZON up to twice up to a maximum individual dose of 1.25 l/ha. For the control of Septoria leaf blotch, FRELIZON must always be used in mixture with another product recommended, for the control of the target disease, from a different cross resistance group. Rates used may be subject to adjustment depending on variety, tank-mix partner and disease pressure. 126 Frelizon fungicide

Application Apply in litres/ha of water using spraying equipment to give good even coverage of the crop. The higher volumes are recommended when the crop is dense. A spray pressure of 2-3 Bar is recommended. Avoid spray drift onto neighbouring crops. Weather Rainfall within 2 hours of application may reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. Soil Apply under good growing conditions with adequate soil moisture. Avoid poor growing conditions, which may give less reliable results. fungicide Frelizon 127

Resistance management Use FRELIZON as part of an Integrated Crop Management (ICM) strategy incorporating other methods of control, including where appropriate other fungicides with a different mode of action. Disease control may be reduced if strains of pathogens less sensitive to penthiopyrad develop. When fungicides with the same mode of action are used repeatedly over several years in the same field, naturally occurring less sensitive strains may survive, propagate and become dominant in that field. A pathogen is considered resistant to a fungicide if it survives a correctly applied treatment at a recommended dose and timing, under normal weather conditions. Resistance to QoI fungicides has been identified in Septoria leaf blotch (Mycosphaerella graminicola), which may seriously affect the performance of some products. For further advice on resistance management, contact your agronomist or specialist advisor and visit The Fungicide Action group (FRAG) UK website. You must not apply more than two foliar applications of Qol containing products to any cereal crop. For control of Septoria leaf blotch, FRELIZON must always be used in mixture with another product recommended for its control, and that contains a fungicide from a different cross resistance group to SDHIs and QoIs and is applied at a dose that will give robust control. Do not apply more than two foliar applications of either SDHI or QoI containing products to any cereal crop. Users should refer to current FRAC guidelines for SDHI and QoI compounds Diseases controlled At the recommended rate of application, FRELIZON controls the following diseases: WHEAT BARLEY OATS Septoria leaf blotch Rhynchosporium Crown rust Brown rust Net blotch 128 Frelizon fungicide

Fungicide programmes/tank mixes FRELIZON is a co-formulation of SDHI and QoI fungicides. For the purposes of resistance management and efficacy, a tank-mix of FRELIZON + partner product has proven to provide the optimum disease control strategy. In wheat the partner product is a triazole which can be varied to suit the situation being targeted. Chlorothalonil can be added to these mixes to offer broader disease control and more robust resistance management. FRELIZON provides great flexibility in use allowing tailoring of rates and partner products. In its own right FRELIZON gives good control of yellow rust. When used in combination with a triazole, this is elevated to excellent yellow rust control to compliment the activity on Septoria and Brown rust. Compatibility Refer to Compatibility appendix.
