Contents under pressure. Containers may explode when heated. CAUSES EYE IRRITATION. MAY CAUSE SKIN IRRITATION. MAY CAUSE RESPIRATORY TRACT IRRITATION. CONTAINS MATERIAL WHICH MAY CAUSE CANCER. Contains a potential teratogen. Potential short term health effects Routes of exposure Eyes Skin Ingestion Target organs Chronic effects Signs and symptoms Eye, Skin contact,, Ingestion. Causes irritation. May cause irritation. Potential environmental effects See section 12. May cause respiratory irritation. Excessive intentional inhalation may cause respiratory tract irritation and central nervous system effects (headache, dizziness). Not a normal route of exposure. May cause stomach distress, nausea or vomiting. Eyes. Skin. Respiratory system. Lungs. Liver. Kidney. Brain. Central nervous system. Prolonged or repeated exposure can cause drying, defatting and dermatitis. Symptoms may include redness, oedema, drying, defatting and cracking of the skin. Symptoms of overexposure may be headache, dizziness, tiredness, nausea and vomiting. This material can enter the lungs during swallowing or vomiting and cause lung inflammation and /or damage. Aspiration into the lungs can cause pneumonia which can be fatal. 3. 2 4. First Aid Measures First aid procedures Eye contact Skin contact Ingestion Notes to physician General advice Immediately flush with cool water. Remove contact lenses, if applicable, and continue flushing for 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention immediately. Immediately flush with cool water for 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Discard or wash well before reuse. Obtain medical attention if irritation persists. If symptoms develop, move victim to fresh air. If symptoms persist, obtain medical attention. If breathing has stopped, trained personnel should administer CPR immediately. Do not induce vomiting. Never give anything by mouth if victim is unconscious, or is convulsing. Obtain medical attention. Symptoms may be delayed. Ensure that medical personnel are aware of the material(s) involved, and take precautions to protect themselves. If you feel unwell, seek medical advice (show the label where possible). Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Keep away from sources of ignition. No smoking. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Keep out of reach of children. 5. Fire Fighting Measures Flammable properties Extinguishing media Suitable extinguishing media Unsuitable extinguishing media Protection of firefighters Specific hazards arising from the chemical Protective equipment for firefighters Hazardous combustion products Explosion data Sensitivity to mechanical impact Sensitivity to static discharge Flammable by WHMIS criteria. Containers may explode when heated. Flammable aerosol by flame projection test. Foam. Carbon dioxide. Dry chemical. Contents under pressure. Pressurised container may explode when exposed to heat or flame. Cool containers with flooding quantities of water until well after fire is out. Firefighters should wear full protective clothing including self contained breathing apparatus. May include and are not limited to: Oxides of carbon. 6. Accidental Release Measures Personal precautions Environmental precautions Methods for containment Methods for cleaning up Keep unnecessary personnel away. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak. Do not touch damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing. Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not discharge into lakes, streams, ponds or public waters. Stop leak if you can do so without risk. Eliminate all ignition sources (no smoking, flares, sparks, or flames in immediate area). Prevent entry into waterways, sewers, basements or confined areas. Before attempting clean up, refer to hazard data given above. Remove sources of ignition. Although the chance of a significant spill or leak is unlikely in aerosol containers, in the event of such an occurrence, absorb spilled material with a non-flammable absorbent such as sand or vermiculite. Before attempting clean up, refer to hazard data given above. Small spills may be absorbed with non-reactive absorbent and placed in suitable, covered, labelled containers. Prevent large spills from entering sewers or waterways. Contact emergency services and supplier for advice. Never return spills to original containers for re-use. #25161 Page: 2 of 8
