2 Vanguard Initiative in a nutshell Regional cooperation Regions are closest link to bottom-up growth dynamics necessary for renewal of industry. Regions are closest link to innovative partnerships and clusters. Political commitment Members are politically committed to positioning S3 at centre of EU s drive for new growth. Highest political level sign Milan Declaration. S3 Members use S3 to boost new growth through bottom-up entrepreneurial innovation and industrial renewal in European Priority areas. Industrial innovation Members have strong industrial ambitions and use S3 to strengthen innovation driven structural renewal of industries. Entrepreneurship Building synergies and complementarities in S3 to boost worldclass clusters and cluster networks, through pilots and large-scale demonstrators. From the beginning five areas identified, today three main demo-cases being implemented Possible new demo-cases where there is an interest from participating regions Nano Wires for ICT and Energy Applications. Watify matchmaking event on May 17 th 2018 in Lund, joint event with EEN. EPPN participate Nano enabled micro system for bio analysis (NeMs4Bio). Workshop planned in June 2018 to be held in Flanders Nano-Enabled Printed Electronics. Workshop in Karlsruhe on April 18. EPPN participate. 9
