1 Provider Diagnoses and Problems IMO Terminology - 11/4/14 S R Meaningful use requirements, ICD-10 transition and reimbursement documentation require accurate documentation of Diagnosis and Problem information Diagnosis and problem searching is currently mapped to both SNOMED CT and ICD-9 CM Searching returns duplicate results and reduces accuracy and efficiency terminology catalog, that maps both ICD and SNOMED to a single term will improve efficiency Clinician impact is lessened during upgrades to ICD and SNOMED Transition to IMO Terminology use in stages: 1) HIM Managers, CDI Specialists, Coders and Outcomes Management 9/15 2) 11/4 Searching IMO is based on words/terms; search by word/term rather than by ICD-9 code Example: heart attack - search by heart or MI, not 410 Figure 3 - PowerNotes: Problems and Diagnoses can be added through the Internal Medicine Progress Note> ssessment> Problem list Note: Diagnosis search folders will be updated to only include ICD -9 coded terms Problem search folders will be updated to only include SNOMED terms Figure 4 - nnotated Display Column - added to display the phrasing that populates the Continuity of Care Document (CCD) and the Patient Portal

3 POC Glucose Critical Values Changes, Nursing and Lab 10/23/14 S/ R Critical values for glucose testing are not currently the same for Point of Care (POC) and Lab Lab Glucose values are set at a critical low of 50 mg/dl and a critical high of 500 mg/dl Updated critical values will bring the POC test in line with the Glucose testing performed in the lab Effective October 23rd, all glucose tests will have a critical low of 50 mg/dl and a critical high of 500 mg/dl Questions? 4 VTE lert Rule Update: Suppress lert with Foot Pump Order Physicians, Nursing and Quality 10/21/14 S R VTE lert will currently fire with an active Foot Pump order in place Foot Pumps meet Mechanical VTE Prophylaxis requirements The VTE lert should NOT fire when Mechanical VTE Prophylaxis items are ordered Update the VTE lert rule to include the foot pump order as a filter When there is an active FOOT PUMP order, the VTE lert will not fire

6 Ebola Related Updates to Cerner version 1 ll Clinical Staff S The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed via laboratory tests, the first case of Ebola to be diagnosed in the United States on September 30, 2014 ccording to the CDC, Ebola Virus Disease (EVD), also known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever, is a rare and deadly disease caused by infection with one of the Ebola virus strains lthough the risk of an Ebola outbreak in the United States is very low, CDC and partners are taking precautions to prevent this from happening Ebola is spread through direct contact (through broken skin or mucous membranes) with blood or body fluids (including but not limited to urine, saliva, feces, vomit and semen) of a person who is sick with Ebola, objects (like needles and syringes) that have been contaminated with the virus, and/or infected animals Ebola is not spread through the air or by water, or in general, food Update Cerner as appropriate based on CDC recommendations and guidelines: R 1.
