1 Product Information ntimicrobials: Verstatil synacid Product features: - Blend of multifunctional organic acids with salicylic acid - Broad antimicrobial activity - Effective against resistant in-house germs - Moisturizing effect

2 The product: Verstatil synacid synergistic blend of multifunctional organic acids and salicylic acid. Verstatil synacid is a reliable solution for formulators searching for a system that is not only efficient against standard germs, but also exhibits proven efficacy against other known problematic microorganisms and even resistant house-germs. This raw material is easy to handle and ideal for application in surfactant based and aqueous product concepts. In emulsions, the combination with surface active antimicrobial boosting agents is recommended. Characteristics - INCI: qua; Glycerin; Sodium Levulinate; Sodium Salicylate; Sodium nisate - ppearance: Clear, light-yellow liquid - Synergistic composition of three organic acids - Efficient against the standard germs (acc. to Eu.Pharm. challenge testing) - Ideal for products and conditions where special antimicrobial efficacy is needed: o Product types high in risk of contamination, e.g. refillable cosmetic products o Resistant and exotic microorganisms, e.g. in-house germs in production - Proven efficacy against: Enterobacter gergoviae, Burkholderia cepacia, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Bacillus cereus, Raoultella ornithinolytica, Penicillum pinophilum, Gluconacetobacter liquefaciens, Lactobacillus plantarum (please contact us for further details) - Better handling compared to pure salicylic acid - Suitable for all product concepts - ph optimum range: Dosage (Max. permitted use level Verstatil synacid: 5 %) Indications for the use of salicylic acid in cosmetic products (see nnex V/29, Cosmetics Regulation (EC) n.1223/2009): - Not to be used in products for children under 3 years of age, except for [hair] shampoos - Warning notice required Warning solely for products which might be used for children under 3 years of age and which remain in prolonged contact with the skin. Wording or warning for products where this applies: Not to be used for children under 3 years of age ntimicrobial efficacy Product Concept Dosage Rinse-off % Wet Wipes % O/W-emulsions % + booster Gram + Gram - Yeast Mould Legend: + = good, but needs a booster ++ = very good alone

3 How to work with Verstatil synacid Manufacturing procedure (laboratory scale) For emulsions: 1. Recommended to add to the water phase. 2. t the end of the formulation process adjust ph to < 5.5 to regenerate the active p-anisic acid and levulinic acid. Easily water soluble. For surfactant based products: 1. Mix with surfactant base and proceed as usual. 2. djust ph at the end of formulation process (see above). The ph of the raw material is so consider the electrolyte input for your formulation. For aqueous based systems: 1. Before incorporation of Verstatil synacid, ph needs to be > t the end of formulation process carefully adjust the ph to < 5.5 to avoid recrystallization. Note: Consider the ph dependend water solubility of anisic acid and adjust dosage accordingly. Formulation advice Boost antimicrobial efficacy in emulsions Optimise the dosage Instabilities might occur Combine with boosting wetting agents, e.g. dermosoft GMCY The solubility and acitivity of organic acids is ph dependent. djust the dosage of Verstatil synacid according to the desired final ph of the formulation.
