7 The Right Detector for the Right Application Sun Nuclear manufactures both diode and ion chamber based solutions. Sun Nuclear s SunPoint Diode Detectors offer the benefit of a smaller active area, better sensitivity, less drift and increased lifetime. SunPoint Diode Detectors are used for small field and patient-specific applications due to smaller size and better performance for characterization of small and modulated fields. Ion chambers are used for large field and low-modulation applications where small size is not necessary. Sun Nuclear software also supports measurements from EPID, Gafchromic film, and CR detectors. Quick and Easy Setup User Calibrated. All Sun Nuclear detector arrays are user calibrated in around 15 minutes, using our patented Wide Field Calibration method (#6,125,335). USB Communication. All Sun Nuclear devices communicate with your PC through standard USB connections. Single Power/Data Cable. All Sun Nuclear devices share a universal power/data cable that provides all power and data needs for the device. Starting in 2015 an upgraded cable is being introduced which features higher capacity. Single Unit Designs. All Sun Nuclear devices feature integrated designs that minimize cable connections and setup time, making it easier and more efficient to do quick and accurate QA. Minimized Warm-Up. Most Sun Nuclear devices require no warm up or pre-irradiation, and those that do require 1 minute or less. Independent Measurements. Proper checks and balances must be maintained in a QA program. All Sun Nuclear measurements are completely independent and make no assumptions regarding machine performance. Software. Sun Nuclear employs numerous software applications, algorithms and dose calculation engines to perform QA analysis, all of which are completely independent of linac and TPS manufacturers. Log Files. Sun Nuclear utilizes linac log files in some QA tests, however they are not considered independent and their use is supplemental to other measurement based techniques. Transparent Raw Data. All Sun Nuclear raw measurement data is available for export and independent analysis. Algorithms. All Sun Nuclear algorithms are documented and available for independent verification. 12 PRODUCT SOLUTIONS // Patient QA Critical Advantages For PATIENT-SPECIFIC QA SRS, VMAT, and IMRT treatments demand stringent, efficient and meaningful QA. Sun Nuclear is at the forefront of patient-specific QA with solutions that consistently push the technology envelope to improve patient QA effectiveness and efficiency. Sun Nuclear combines leading software and hardware measurement designs with automation to develop patient QA solutions that do not compromise quality in the quest for efficiency. Sun Nuclear utilizes the right detector for the right application, which is why all Sun Nuclear patient QA devices utilize SunPoint Diode Detectors, and not ion chambers. SunPoint Diode Detectors accurately measure the fine dose gradients found in today s modern treatments, and therefore more accurately characterize the true delivery, and avoid the misleading dose volume averaging effects of ion chambers. Sun Nuclear was the first company to introduce a 2D electronic detector array MapCHECK to replace tedious and problematic film dosimetry. MapCHECK was followed by MapCHECK 2, which remains the gold standard for 2D patient-specific QA arrays. ArcCHECK provides a further leap forward with true 4D measurements that accurately and consistently measure entrance and exit dose measurements throughout a continuous VMAT delivery. Both MapCHECK and ArcCHECK are compatible with 3DVH software, another first which provides clinically relevant QA on 3D patient anatomy. And Sun Nuclear continues to push the envelope for patient QA with PerFRACTION a fully automated EPID based QA solution for both pre-treatment and per-fraction patient-specific QA. 12 SUN NUCLEAR CORPORATION // sunnuclear.com

18 PRODUCT SOLUTIONS // Machine QA Improving By Measuring MACHINE QA More than just checking boxes, meaningful Machine QA foresees an issue before it occurs, identifies opportunities for improvement, and improves clinical outcomes through better functioning systems. Like our line of patient QA systems, Sun Nuclear combines leading software and hardware measurement designs with automation to develop machine QA solutions that do not compromise quality in the quest for efficiency. Sun Nuclear utilizes the right detector for the right application, which is why Sun Nuclear machine QA devices utilize both SunPoint TM Diode Detectors and ion chambers based on the application at hand. With the PROFILER 2, SunPoint Diode Detectors are spaced every 4 mm to provide precision measurement of small to large fields up to 30 cm. With the IC PROFILER, uniquely shaped ion chambers minimize dose volume averaging and provide the characteristics necessary to match water phantoms to within 0.5%. With the Daily QA 3, a combination of SunPoint Diode Detectors and ion chambers are used to most accurately measure flatness, symmetry, output, energy, and field size all in a single beam delivery. With SNC Machine software, Sun Nuclear continues to push the envelope for machine QA with a fully automated EPID based QA solution that provides TG-142 and VMAT machine QA testing. 18 SUN NUCLEAR CORPORATION // sunnuclear.com

28 PRODUCT SOLUTIONS // Dosimetry Maximizing Accuracy and Minimizing Subjectivity DOSIMETRY Tools used for dosimetry and commissioning must be carefully selected. Equal care must be taken to setup and use these tools properly, otherwise incorrect information could be used with serious consequences. It is with this understanding that Sun Nuclear designs dosimetry solutions. Our goal for dosimetry is to maximize the accuracy of the measurement while minimizing the possibility of incorrect use. Our 1D SCANNER features an automatic water surface detection sensor which ensures consistent placement of the detector relative to water surface. Sun Nuclear s 3D SCANNER completely redefined what is possible with 3D water tank dosimetry. First the AutoSetup feature automates the leveling and centering of the tank, eliminating most user subjectivity and a major source of undetected errors. Second, the patented cylindrical design and ring drive provides consistent detector scan orientation regardless of scan direction and eliminates the need to change detector setup or perform tank shifts contrary to all other 3D water scanners which are square. Third, the SNC Dosimetry software that controls the 3D SCANNER provides advances such as database storage and scan layers which saves all native data and allows reversal of processing at any time. Fourth, the 3D MiniLift features a unique design that enables the tank to completely straddle the linac couch ring, keeping the setup of the 3D SCANNER stable at all times and not vulnerable to positional changes in the linac couch ring I SUN NUCLEAR CORPORATION // sunnuclear.com

36 PRODUCT SOLUTIONS // Diagnostic Gold Standard Solution for MAMMOGRAPHY QA When the USA mandated Mammography QA requirements via the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), medical physicists, the ACR and the FDA worked with Gammex to complete the phantom design known today as the Mammo 156 Phantom. The Gammex 156 phantom helped establish the mammography repeatability and reproducibility standard: any mammography technologist (radiographer) at any time, on any machine, can provide the same image set to help detect breast cancer. Today, the mammography industry continues to move toward standardized techniques for imaging heterogeneous, dense breast tissue, using Tomosynthesis and Contrast-Enhanced Digital Mammography (CEDM) to isolate tumors close to the chest wall with greater sensitivity and specificity. These technologies can detect lesions that are masked by dense tissue with greater accuracy than standard mammography systems. And Gammex continues to innovate with advanced materials, and collaboratively develop products that meet your QA, clinical and research needs. 36 SUN NUCLEAR CORPORATION // sunnuclear.com
