1 Double Donning System Sempermed Supreme Duo Glove perforation an often underestimated risk Every glove perforation during surgery entails great risks, both for patients and surgical staff. Micro-perforations to the glove, caused for example by needle-stick injuries, may have serious consequences. Perforated gloves can lead to postoperative wound infections in patients as well as hepatitis or HIV infections in surgical staff. Studies have not only shown that depending on the type of surgery micro-holes are found in up to 61 percent of all surgical operations (2,3,4,5,6) but also that up to 83 percent of glove perforations are not detected during surgery (1). To minimize risks, surgeons are increasingly deciding in favour of using two pairs of surgical gloves. Double donning is a safe and easy measure to increase the level of protection both for the patients and surgical staff. Studies have shown that in up to 82 percent of perforations to the outer glove film, the protective function of the inner glove is not affected even though the outer glove is damaged (1). Moreover, if a green inner glove is used, the perforation is more easily detected. may be transmitted through perforated gloves.

2 Quick colour indication with the Sempermed Supreme Duo Opening one single flat pouch is all it takes for the new double donning system Sempermed Supreme Duo to drastically reduce the risk of infections during surgery. This one-stop solution consists of a green inner glove, Sempermed Supreme green, and the tried and tested outer glove, Sempermed Supreme. Thanks to the green colour of the inner glove, it is easier for surgeons and operating room nurses to detect glove perforations and micro-holes at an early stage. The new double donning system developed by Sempermed also helps to save time and effort. The inner and outer gloves are packed in one single flat pouch, enabling the gloves to be donned more quickly while reducing the logistics workload in hospitals and packaging material. + = Green light for more safety in the operating room benefits of colour indication If the outer glove is perforated during surgery, liquid enters through the hole and spreads between the inner and outer glove. With this liquid the green colour of the inner glove is intensified. Capillary forces distribute the liquid around the hole, thus making the dark green spot larger and the perforation easier to detect. For safety reasons, if a green spot is found on the glove, we recommend an immediate change of both pairs of gloves. The patented, special inner lining of the Sempermed underglove ensures the ease of intra-operative donning of both gloves - even with wet hands.? HOW DOES DOUBLE DONNING WITH COLOUR INDICATION WORK?

3 Application Sempermed recommends double donning for increased barrier protection and significantly lower risk of infection for both users and patients, especially in cases with high-risk patients, strenuous and complex surgeries, and emergencies. Additional protection is particularly necessary in the fields of orthopaedics as well as trauma and thoracic surgery, where the surgical staff work with sharp, fractured bones or bone structures in the chest.
