7 High Efficiency New project High Efficiency The i-lèd technology is the best solution since it guarantees lower energy consumption and a long life. A few examples of energy efficiency improvement in a traditional system with fluorescent lighting fixtures are shown below. 8 Indoor/Outdoor Downlights Quick change Quick installation Replace the lighting fixtures having traditional light sources in just a few simple steps: the i-lèd quick replacement system is available also for downlights (COB, HV and LV series) with standard diameters for installation holes suitable for most markets. Connectors designed for a quick installation. Save time and money, from the purchase to the electricity bill: the simple installation guaranteed by the new i-lèd downlights allows a reduction of the system installation times with subsequent savings on the relevant costs. Moreover, the LED source requires no maintenance and no lamp replacement costs (i-lèd downlight life: 70,000 hours). 8

9 Quick change INSTALLATION: COB line & LV line Easy Plug 60 seconds QUICK CONNECTOR: COB line & LV line (Easy Plug system) 1 2 Install the downlights of the COB and LV series in just 60 seconds; the push-fit connectors supplied guarantee simple and fast installation. 40 seconds INSTALLATION: HV line QUICK CONNECTOR: HV line 1 2 The downlights of the HV series can be installed by connecting them directly to the mains in just 40 seconds thanks to the push-fit connectors supplied, which allow connections to be carried out in an easier and quicker way. The installation times and costs are considerably reduced since the driver is not required. Creating groups of lighting fixtures wired in parallel is now easy and quick, without additional wiring required. Connector fitted with anti-detachment system, ideal for high voltages. 9

10 Indoor/Outdoor Downlights Smart spring Safe and easy mounting The i-lèd technical laboratories have developed the innovative springs with smart spring technology. These springs include both the traditional version and the version with torsion technology and shaped hook. They are the perfect solution for the new i-lèd downlights since they allow quick and simple installation, without damaging the plasterboard or the surface where the downlights are to be mounted. Moreover, they allow to be safely fixed preventing it from accidentally falling also in case of environments exposed to heavy mechanical stresses (e.g. underground stations). The downlights of the COB series, fitted with torsion spring with shaped hook, may be conveniently installed and switched on during the construction phase without the reflector, which will be installed perfectly clean, once the construction works are completed. The i-lèd downlights can be installed on false ceilings with reduced thickness, ranging from 1mm to a maximum of 0 mm. 12 Indoor/Outdoor Downlights Long life Long life Lighting fixtures fitted with highly efficient passive heat dissipation system with cutting-edge extruded aluminium profiles (alloy 6060). The compactly arranged radial fins make the most of the surface to effectively cool the LED source. The material, surface and connection to the LED source are the distinguishing features. The heat sink consists of radial extruded aluminium profiles, compactly arranged in order to have a large cooling surface. A special thermo conductive foil is placed between the heat sink and the LEDs to guarantee optimal dissipation and, therefore, long life to the lighting fixture (70,000 hours - L80). The i-lèd technicians carry out thermal simulations in order to discover the best technical solutions which can dissipate heat in the most efficient way. The downlights have been designed to maintain 80% of the initial flux after 50,000 hours of use (L80). Besides the use of innovative radial heat sinks, a special thermal film, conceived to optimise heat transmission from LED to heat sink, is installed between them. The COB series guarantees a long life, extremely high colour rendering and high brightness. All COB downlights can be customized on request with different power levels than coded values (e.g.: COB20_R with flange diameter 250 mm can be equipped with lower power LEDs). 56 The safety guaranteed by a constantly present light The i-lèd electronics research laboratories have developed downlights fitted with the EMergency kit to guarantee power supply during both normal and emergency functioning, i.e. in the event of mains supply failure. This kit includes the downlight, with the relevant LED indicator integrated in the reflector, driver and batteries to provide power supply. The result is a maintained emergency luminaire, extremely useful in any environment where an emergency lighting system is not required. Homes, shops and small offices will be safer in the event of power outage, without the need to install specific luminaires and keeping the aesthetic concept unaltered. All the downlights included in this catalogue can be fitted with the EMergency kit upon request. Technology The downlight with EMergency kit is designed in compliance with the EN standard and allows: to recharge the battery pack in a maximum of 6 hours to connect a switch for the passage from maintained lighting (emergency lighting on with normal mains voltage) to non-maintained lighting (emergency lighting off with normal mains voltage) to supply a maximum power of 6 W during emergency operation to switch on immediately in case of mains voltage failure to switch to the Stand-by mode by means of a N.O. button (which can also be used to switch off and on the LED luminaire during emergency operation; when mains voltage is resumed, the system will get ready for a new emergency event) Battery The system is fitted with a high-temperature Ni-MH battery pack, compliant with the EN standard, having the following characteristics: over 1-hour duration environmentally friendly as it does not contain cadmium constant operation also at high temperature (50 C) guaranteed minimum life: 4 years with average use or after approx. 500 charge/discharge cycles Complete protection The electronic system guarantees the following protections: Surge protection Overtemperature protection Protections against overcharge and overdischarge of the battery pack to guarantee the battery life cycle LED indicator Each article features a green LED indicator having the following meanings: ON: mains voltage present and battery charged FLASHING BRIEFLY: mains voltage present and battery charging FLASHING QUICKLY: a fault has been occurred OFF: Mains voltage failure (emergency lighting) 56

Smartwave Smartwave immunity against surges Smartwave control unit chip Protectionagainst surges The electronic devices integrity and operation are often damaged as a result of surges in the mains voltage. They are common in several countries and can of course affect any type of building. Surges may be due to load switching in the electrical system, lightning strikes directly hitting the system or the areas surrounding it or other types of accidental phenomena. LED lighting fixtures present an extremely long life and are fitted with protection systems that increase their reliability over time. Nonetheless, in the majority of the cases, lighting system malfunctioning is the result of a clearly higher failure rate and of the damaging of drivers. The i-lèd research and development laboratories in the electronic field have created Smartwave : a higher protection that guarantees a longer life to the power supply systems ( hours) preventing the surge from reaching and damaging the lighting fixture connected to it. This is combined with a high efficiency level and a power factor exceeding 0.9: it allows for up to 100 W to be saved per each system with a total saving of 1 kw. Moreover, Smartwave introduces structural changes aimed to improve energy performance and reliability. The number of components has been reduced, thus lowering the operating temperature. A high PF value entails optimal correction also in the case of systems with many drivers. The thermal cut-off protection is combined with a temperature-controlled power derating protection against overtemperatures that enables operation also with temperatures exceeding 50 C. Additionally, the drivers of the Smartwave family feature a wide input voltage range and are absolutely noiseless. The international and European standard IEC/EN requires the manufacturers to guarantee an immunity against surges defined by the withstood voltage peak calculated in kv (beyond which the device no longer works properly). The tests carried out according to the IEC standard define for the safety class II or III devices installed indoor the following differential mode surge levels (surges between phase and phase or between phase and neutral of the mains): kv for devices with power lower than 25 W - 1 kv for devices with power higher than 25 W The i-lèd laboratories have developed the Smartwave range drivers with an immunity to differential mode surges up to 7 kv, a value which is 4 times higher than the minimum protection requirement provided for by current regulations. 58
