2 SUPPLEMENTARY DATA Tis below data provides additional information on te cure and performance properties of Ancamine 2726 curing agent versus Ancamine 1618 curing agent. Ancamine 2726 curing agent was screened wit non-diluted and diluted resins. Te results in Table 1 sow comparable performance to Ancamine 1618 curing agent TABLE 1: ANCAMINE 1618 AND ANCAMINE 2726 CURING AGENT CURE PERFORMANCE DGEBA, undiluted EEW190 Temp./ºC GT, 150g Persoz, d1/d7 Hardness, d1/d7 Carb. As sown in Figure 1, te UV resistance of Ancamine 2726 curing agent is not significantly different tan te UV resistance of Ancamine 1618 curing agent (Figure 1). In addition to UV resistance, films were also examined for carbamation resistance at 15ºC and 25 ºC. As sown in Figure 2, bot curing agents provide ig gloss films at room temperature wit only Ancamine 1618 sowing a low amount of carbamation. Te carbamation is present at 15ºC, but is comparable to oter cycloalipatic curing agents in tis class. Te carbamation resistance at 15ºC can be improved significantly by utilizing a diluent suc as Epodil 748 diluent at 10 wt%. 3 SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION FOR METAL PROTECTION Ancamine 2726 curing agent is low viscosity, modified cycloalipatic amine. Te product is intended for use wit a variety of epoxy resin types in te development of ig performance, corrosion resistant coatings for te protection of steel and concrete. In addition, Ancamine 2726 curing agent exibits excellent compatibility wit liquid epoxy resins and terefore ig solid, solvent based coatings can be formulated using tis product, wic can ten be used for a wide variety of industrial maintenance and marine applications. Formulations based on Ancamine 2726 curing agent can also be accelerated to enance dry speed bot at ambient and low temperature, using Ancamine K54 (penolic, tertiary amine accelerator). STARTING POINT FORMULATIONS: Appendix 1 contains preliminary starting point formulations based on Ancamine 2726 curing agent for an anti-corrosive primer. Formulation A2726P1 is a ig volume solids (76%), anticorrosive primer, based on a combination of liquid bispenol A diglycidyl eter (EEW 190) and solid epoxy resin solution (EEW=550). Te formulation as a 1:1 mix ratio by volume. Te initial viscosity of te formulated system is ~2,000 mpa.s wit a total VOC of 210 g/l. Te primer formulation is compatible wit a variety of different let down solvents (including xylene, n-butanol, MIBK, metoxy-propanol, etc) and can be furter let down if required for additional spray applications. Te coating formulation can be applied wit conventional spray equipment or brus applied to te steel substrate and as a pot life of 3 rs. Formulation A1618P1 is a ig volume solids (76%), anticorrosive primer, based on a combination of liquid bispenol A diglycidyl eter (EEW 190) and solid epoxy resin solution (EEW=550). Te formulation as a 1:1 mix ratio by volume. Te initial viscosity of te formulated system is 2,000 mpa.s wit a total VOC of 210 g/l. Te above formulations ave been evaluated for corrosion resistance properties using salt spray and Cleveland Humidity test. After 2,000 rs exposure, te coatings exibit excellent corrosion resistance. For comparative purposes, Ancamine 1618 curing agent was also included in te test study as te industry standard reference. In all te corrosion resistance tests carried out, bot Ancamine 2726 and Ancamine 1618 curing agents demonstrated comparable performance. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: All coatings were evaluated in 5% salt spray, and in continuous umidity at 35 C. Te primer were applied to grit blasted, ot rolled steel (SA2.5), using conventional spray equipment, in double coats to give coatings wit a µ (3-4 mils) dry film tickness (DFT). In salt spray, (ASTM B-117) panels were scribed and evaluated for field blisters using te US Federal Standard Test Metod 141a, Metod 6461 and te scribe creep was rated in accordance wit ASTM D CORROSION RESISTANCE: Anti-corrosion resistant primers based on Ancamine 2726 and Ancamine 1618 curing agents, were evaluated for salt spray and constant umidity resistance. Te results obtained are presented in Table 2 and Table 3. Rating: 10 = Best, 0 = Worst For blister size, rating 10 = no blisters observed PERFORMANCE RESULTS: Ancamine 2726 curing agent can readily be formulated into a wide range of anti-corrosive primers and top coats depending upon te epoxy resin system required. General andling properties of te formulated coatings are comparable to Ancamine 1618 curing agent and coatings can easily be applied using a range of application metods suc as brus, roller and spray application. In accelerated weater testing, corrosion resistance indicates tat Ancamine 2726 curing agent delivers te ig level of corrosion resistance typically observed for tis class of curing agent. Resistance up to 2,000 rs resistance was easily acieved for all systems tested wit no noticeable damage around te scribe during tis period.
