Performance & Sustainability Ingeo the story so far! Eamonn Tighe April

Back in 1989 we had a big, crazy idea - What if we could turn greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide into products? 150,000 MT Ingeo PLA plant in Blair, NE USA Jointly owned by Cargill and PTTGC Established global market channels Commercial partnerships with global brands Sales team in 15 countries across North America, Latin America, Europe, and Asia Dedicated Applications Development and R&D Facilities Hills, Inc. bicomponent fiber line Multi-stage draw, annealing, winding capabilities Lurgi gun (spunbond simulation) DME fiber tow crimping & cutter Biax Fiberfilm melt blown (12in. die & collector) Strong environmental expertise and product characteristics Peer reviewed LCA s and eco-profile demonstrate smaller carbon footprint and lower fossil energy use Products enable portfolio of end-of-life options Dedicated internal team for understanding environmental and end-of-life impacts 2

French food company Danone (Dannon in the US) has switched to bio-based plastic packaging for its Activia brand yogurt in Germany. The switch will improve the product s packaging carbon footprint by 25% and use 43% less fossil resources compared to the previous packaging, the company said. Activia was previously packaged in polystyrene. Together, NatureWorks and Danone are working to achieve the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) for the new Activia packaging. The ISCC seal assures that the entire supply chain for the Ingeo raw materials meets rigorous social and environmental criteria. 10

INGEO FIBERS & NONWOVENS: AT A GLANCE Efficient fiber & fabric production from existing fiber assets mean that Ingeo is finding its functional fit across broad markets Food & Infusion Medical/Hygiene Technical/Industrial Neutral odor and taste Transparent - visual appeal to showcase contents Ingeo nonwovens heat moldable properties used to lock shape Inherently hydrophilic - moisture management, (comfort and performance in both clinical & personal care). wet strength/bonding, skin comfort, high loft Technical applications: providing performance such as additional fabric resilience, tensile strength tailored hydrolysis in sacrificial industrial applications 11

Certification Tools for Ingeo Biopolymers 1 BIOBASED CARBON CERTIFICATION Verifies that 100% of carbon in Ingeo comes from renewable ag resources via USDA BioPreferred in the US & Vincotte in Europe. 4 FEEDSTOCK SOURCING CERTIFICATION Non-GM corn volume equivalent to a customer s needs is purchased by NatureWorks and added to the stream entering the corn wet mill. 2 GENESCAN CERTIFICATION Ingeo is certified to be free of any genetic material by Eurofins Genescan. 5 ISCC PLUS & FEEDSTOCK SOURCING A combination of NatureWorks Feedstock Sourcing Certification and the ISCC PLUS program. 3 ISCC PLUS 3rd party (ISCC) certifies the sustainable production of renewable raw materials including chain of custody. 6 WORKING LANDSCAPE CERTIFICATES 3rd party (IATP) certifies both sustainable agricultural production and the use of a non-genetically modified crop. 14
