2 Foam Height (ml) PROGILINE FI 525 PROGILINE FI 525 is a non-ionic polyalkylene glycol ester type foam inhibitor. The product is designed specifically for the defoaming and suppression of foam in cold water sugar beet related applications such as beet transport and cleaning, in the first stages of sugar beet refining. The product is highly efficient in both defoaming and antifoaming action in various fruit/vegetable aqueous systems operating over a wide low temperature range of 5-25 C, and is extremely efficiently dispersed in cold water. Upon process start-up an elevated dosage is initially required to ensure full treatment of the entire transport system, further additions provide a top-up function and will be required according to whether the transport system is cyclical and therefore whether the product remains active within the system over repeated cycles. PROGILINE FI 525 is inherently biodegradable and therefore minimises environmental impact. PROGILINE FI 525 may be used in concentrated form or as part of a formulated product, most commonly formulating with natural fatty acids such as Tall Oil Fatty Acid (TOFA) enables a lower viscosity product (for maximum dispersion efficiency) of optimised cost to be achieved. Due to the low dosages required to achieve maximum defoaming/antifoaming efficiency, PROGILINE FI 525 is most commonly dosed into suitable points of good mixing via a micrometering pump, typical dosages required are 5-15ppm with respect to mass of sugar beet processed. Concentrated 1% active Foam Inhibitor, with the option to formulate for cost/ease of dosing optimisation. Stable and efficiently dispersed at low temperatures. Suitable for a wide range of cold water processing systems. High levels of retained performance in cyclical washing systems. Technical performance Figure 1: PROGILINE FI 525 foam control behaviour at varying temperatures (.5wt% sugar /.1wt% Saponin solution, test duration 2 minutes) [Reference] PROGILINE FI 525 Dosage (ppm) Fig 1 5 C 1 C 2 C PROGILINE FI 525 defoaming and antifoaming performance is demonstrated by foam testing across the temperature range 5-2 C using a standardised reference solution of.5wt% sugar/.1wt% Saponin. Foam control testing demonstrates that a dosage as low as 6ppm can be efficient in achieving foam height reduction >9% with ongoing foam inhibition for the duration of the Foam Inhibitor s presence in the water. It is demonstrated that a dosage of 5ppm Foam Inhibitor can be efficient in ensuring a complete absence of foam formation. PROGILINE FI Range Page 2 of 8 SIS/PROGILINE FI Range (v1) August 214

3 PROGILINE FI 13 PROGILINE FI 13 is a non-ionic type polyalkylene glycol based foam inhibitor. The product is extremely efficient in both defoaming and antifoaming action in aqueous systems operating over a temperature range of 1-3 C. PROGILINE FI 13 is suitable for use in a broad range of cold water applications, either where antifoaming action via reduction of entrained air is required, and/or where defoaming action via control of frothing is needed. The product may be used in concentrated form or as part of a formulated product. Typical application areas where PROGILINE FI 13 is suitable for use include the paper industry and most particularly the vegetable/fruit processing industry. Due to the low dosages required to achieve maximum defoaming/antifoaming efficiency, PROGILINE FI 13 is most commonly dosed into suitable points of good mixing via a micrometering pump. Concentrated 1% active Foam Inhibitor maximum product efficiency at lowest dosages. Stable and equally effective under extremes of ph. Low viscosity liquid form, therefore easy to dose. Highly efficient dispersion in water. Technical performance PROGILINE FI 13 defoaming and antifoaming performance is demonstrated by foam testing across the temperature range 15-3 C using a standardised reference solution of.5wt% sugar /.1wt% saponin. The results of this testing is seen in Figure 2, Page 4 of this Information Sheet. Foam control testing demonstrates that a dosage as low as 3ppm can be efficient in achieving foam height reduction >97% with ongoing foam inhibition for the duration of the Foam Inhibitor s presence in the water. It is demonstrated that a dosage of 25ppm Foam Inhibitor can be efficient in ensuring a complete absence of foam formation. PROGILINE FI 13 defoaming and antifoaming performance is also demonstrated by foam testing across the temperature range 1-3 C using a standardised reference solution of 5g unwashed potatoes (1cm 3 piece size) / 15ml deionized water. The results of this testing is seen in Figure 3, Page 4. The solution is allowed to soak for 4 hours prior to conducting the foam test. Again, the foam control testing demonstrates that a dosage as low as 3ppm can be efficient in achieving foam height reduction >9% with ongoing foam inhibition for the duration of the Foam Inhibitor s presence in the water. It is demonstrated that a dosage of 25ppm Foam Inhibitor can be efficient in ensuring a complete absence of foam formation in this media. 5 PROGILINE FI 264 PROGILINE FI 264 is a high performance non-ionic polyalkylene glycol antifoam designed for application in microbiological fermentation systems. PROGILINE FI 264 is also suitable for use in a range of water based systems where foam control is required at temperatures in the range of 26-4 C. PROGILINE FI 264 is specifically intended for use where microorganisms are present, the product is typically better tolerated by microorganisms when compared to alternate antifoam types and as the product is water soluble below 2 C the it will not block ultrafiltration membranes at these temperatures. Progiline FI 264 is readily removed from fermentation vessel surfaces using cold water and is stable to typical sterilisation techniques. PROGILINE FI 264 is typical dosed as a solution in cold water, recommended dosages are 5% in water 1-15 C, though the product can also be dosed neat as may be required. PROGILINE FI 264 may be removed from solution using high-surface-area polystyrene absorbants, however this may be only be suitable in applications where the absorbent does not remove other materials present. PROGILINE FI 264 ensures dissolved oxygen levels are well maintained in fermentation systems, and has minimal impact on oxygen transfer from the nutrient broth to the microorganism, which is a common problem with alternate foam control products such as silicones. In summary, foam formation during the fermentation process may be effectively controlled without dramatic reduction in product yield. Concentrated 1% active Foam Inhibitor, with the option to dilute for ease of dosing. Stable and efficiently dispersed and removed at low temperatures. Suitable for a wide range of fermentation processes. Minimal impact of fermentation process yields. PROGILINE FI 286 PROGILINE FI 286 is a high performance non-ionic polyalkylene glycol antifoam designed for application in a range of warm water based systems where foam control is required at temperatures above 3 C, for example in vegetable based systems, paper and starch industries, and sugar cane processing. PROGILINE FI 286 was specifically designed for application in the paper and starch industry, working at the upper temperature range of 3-6 C. PROGILINE FI 286 is well complimented by the product FI 13 which works across the range 1-3 C, and the two can be easily blended to provide a product with wide temperature operating range. PROGILINE FI 286 may be dosed neat or formulated with a variety of alcohols or fatty acids. PROGILINE FI 286 is fully miscible with water at temperatures below the aqueous cloudpoint of 27.5 C and is typically dosed into systems via a micro-metering pump at a point of optimum dispersion. Concentrated 1% active Foam Inhibitor, with the option to formulate for cost efficiency. No discolouration, grease or oil spotting of paper products. Suitable for a wide range of paper products from fine tissue through to board paper. Good applicability in a range of war water aqueous systems such as sugar cane and vegetable processing. 6 Foam Height (ml) PROGILINE FI 51 PROGILINE FI 51 is a 1% active polyalkylene glycol foam inhibitor. The product is designed specifically for the defoaming and suppression of foam in sugar beet processing applications. Progiline FI 51 is effective in various stages of the process, including diffusion, liming and carbonation. Product also finds application in control of form in sugar cane processing. PROGILINE FI 51 may be dosed directly into the system, typically at concentrations of 5-2 ppm, but alternatively may be formulated with other components such as fatty acids or water to create lower cost formulations of lower viscosity, which enables easier dosing into systems. Formulations with water and fatty acid typically require only simple agitation prior to use. PROGILINE FI 51 is suitable for use over a wide range of ph, thus enabling suitability for various stages of the sugarbeet processing, and is suitable for use over the specified temperature range of approx C, therefore enabling application where there may be some localised temperature variation. PROGILINE FI 51 is extremely efficiently dispersed and is suitable for application in a wide range of diffusion systems. In addition to application in the sugarbeet process, PROGILINE FI 51 also finds application in a range of other aqueous systems with operating temperatures in the 45 1 C range, for example in boiler water systems. Concentrated 1% active Foam Inhibitor, with the option to formulate for cost optimisation. Stable and efficiently dispersed at low temperatures. Suitable for a wide range of cold water processing systems. High levels of retained performance in cyclical washing systems. Technical performance Figure 4: PROGILINE FI 51 foam control behaviour at varying temperatures (.5wt% sugar /.1wt% Saponin solution, test duration 2 minutes) [Reference] PROGILINE FI 51 Dosage (ppm) Fig 4 5 C 6 C 7 C 9 C PROGILINE FI 51 defoaming and antifoaming performance is demonstrated by foam testing across the temperature range 5-1 C using a standardised reference solution of.5wt% sugar /.1wt% saponin.
