New members Our new member, Peter Van t Westeinde, could not attend the first meeting. 1

2. Previous report There were no changes necessary in the report of the 8 th meeting. This report is placed on the freely accessible part of our website. 3. Desired thrips & downy mildew products by MS: situation, necessary actions and task forces For each desired compound, we showed: a brief overview of the current and future status of the Annex I approval, and an overview of the MS with already existing authorised products of this compound (central, southern and northern zone). a table with current trials in the MS or already available trial results, the listed trial programs on the website of the European database EUMUDA and the American database IR4 (Rutgers university). Then we asked wether this product still was desired, which MS were interested and if it was interesting to make a common authorisation case of it. The following thrips products were discussed in this way: azadirachtine Neemazal-T/S (= indicated as desired authorisation by BE, FR, ES, DK, UK*) cyantraniliprole or cyazypyr Galaxy (BE, NL, FR, SE, UK*) lufenuron - Match (BE, DE, ES, DK) Metarhizium anisopliae (liquid) Met52 or Met52 OD (BE, NL, UK*) pyridalyl Nocturn (BE, NL, DE, FR, ES, SE) acrinathrin - Rufast or Rufast Avance (ES, DK) Beauveria bassiana ATCC Naturalis-L (BE, ES) Beauveria bassiana GHA Botanigard 22 WP (BE, FR) Chenopodium ambrisoides (FR) chlorpyrifos metile Relda-E (ES) cloves oil (FR) fatty acids (FR) formetanaat - Winner (NL) spirotetramat Movento SC (NL) thyme oil (FR) The following downy mildew products were discussed in a fast way: fluopicolide + propamocarb Infinito or Volare or Profiler (BE, DE, DK, ES, FR) fosethyl Aliette 80 WG (IT, ES, SE) fosethyl + propamocarb Previcur energy (NL, BE, ES, SE) mandipropamid Revus (NL, SE, DK) > better Carial flex > less resistancy amisulbron - Leymay (= indicated as desired authorisation by IT) azoxystrobin Ortiva or Amistar (ES, UK*) benthiavalicarb + mancozeb Valbon (NL) boscalid + pyraclostrobine Signum or Signum WG (UK*, DK) copper (IT) cyazofamide Ranman Top (SE, DK) 2

cymoxanil + famoxadone Tanos or Equation Pro (DE, NL) cymoxanil + propamocarb Proxanil (BE, DK) dimethomorf - Paraat (IT) dimethomorf + ametoctradin (or initum) Zampro max (DE, FR) dimethomorf + mancozeb Acrobat Mz (ES) dimethomorf + zoxamide (FR) fenamidone + propamocarb Concento (DK) fenamidone + fosethyl Fenomenal (ES) metalaxyl M + mancozeb Fubol Gold (NL) potassium phosfonaat (FR) For 3 products the MS agreed to launch a task force: Nocturn (pyridalyl) with NL as coordinator Helma Verberkt (hverberkt@ltoglaskracht.nl) Botanigard 22 WP (Beauveria bassiana GHA) with BE as coordinator Marc Vissers (marc.vissers@pcsierteelt.be) Previcur energy (propamocarb + fosethyl) with SE/BE as coordinator Johanna Jansson & Marc Vissers (johanna.jansson@jordbruksverket.se). Instructions for the coordinators: Overall objective: searching the best & fastest way to get authorisations in as much MS of our group as possible Depending on the situation we have to use different methods In all the cases the coordinator (NL, BE, SE) has to: (1) contact the distributing company with the question in which countries the product will be distributed/market, and in which certainly not (2) try to organise extra trials in MS if there are not enough GEP-data Task Force 1 (Nocturn coordinating country = NL): the product has no full authorisation in the coordinating country (NL) but the authorisation holder or distributor is already starting an application dossier Procedure = first company dossier > then mutual recognition: (1) coordinator NL has to inform the company (distributor Nufarm) about the request or our working group for authorisation in different MS (2) ask the company what we can do to support the dossier: delivering additional documents (trial data/requests for authorisations from different MS); ask if it could be useful that all countries send a letter to Nufarm or producer Sumitomo with the request to put the product on their market (6 countries interested). (3) waiting till ongoing authorisation dossier in NL ornamentals is OK > afterwards go for mutual recognition procedure by our group or by the company Task Force 2 (Botanigard 22 WP coordinating country = BE): the product is already reregistered in the coordinating country (BE), but has no thrips authorisation and this country (BE) starts a zonal application dossier 3

Procedure = zonal authorisation: (1) coordinator BE (zrms) will prepare the drr for the label extension of BOTANIGARD. The dossier will be based on a mutual recognition starting from the NL thrips authorisation of BOTANIGARD in ornamentals (indoor). As no efficacy data were evaluated by the NL authorities, BE will ask other MS if they can provide efficacy trials. Selectivity can be extrapolated from the current BE authorisation of BOTANIGARD in ornamentals against white flies. So no additional selectivity data are required. (2) BE will contact other member states to see if they are interested to participate in the zonal procedure. (3) BE will send the drr (dossier) and the application form to the interested countries (cms) for review. (4) BE submits the application at the Belgian authorities. Other member states have to submit at the same time the dossier as well as the application form in their respective country. Task Force 3 (Previcur Energy coordinating country = SE/BE): the product is already registered against downy mildew in the coordinating country (SE) but has no ornamentals authorisation. Procedure = first national authorisation(s) > then mutual recognition (1) Coordinators SE and BE goes firstly for a national authorisation; they can use the UK & DK efficacy trial results (or BE phytotox trial results) from the colleagues of our EU group to obtain SE/BE national authorisation. (2) Afterwards other MS can go for mutual authorisation starting from SE dossier (only Nordic zone, or also other zones for indoor ornamental cultures) or from BE dossier (central zone) Note: Katie Irgin/Bolette Palle Neve and Michael Nielsen have delivered the UK & DK trial reports yet. 4. Informative speech: today the UK - Flying with a Dove, by John Adlam We got a very interesting general overview of the technical information available on the Dove Associates web page, which includes UK pesticide information for ornamentals growers: More info available in the: Green Pesticide Book, to order: Interesting web page addresses: Online UK pesticide guide that costs per year. 5 5. Minor use topics of 1 MS: today the NL minor use activities 2015, by Paul Venderbosch and Jeannette Vriend This is a new agenda topic for our meetings with the ornamental group; general overview of the ongoing dossiers/trials in 1 of the Member States. Paul Venderbosch informed us about the ECSC projects with herbicides and Jeannette Vriend showed an overview of the thrips and downy mildew projects in the ECSC (Expert centre Speciality Crops). Both presentations will be placed on our EU website ( 6. Eumuda Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium added different trials in the Eumuda template of Mario Wick. Mario will make the final changes based on these imported files and report about it next meeting. 7. Varia In the varia we had some specific discussions about: no residues on the plants, control of bacterial diseases without copper, outdoor treatment of Phytophthora (no authorization in DE), use of Plant Trust, Cu-ionisation for water disinfection, treatment of Colletotrichum especially in Gaultheria, Lupinus, Penstemon, Bergenia; 5

8. Next meeting The next meeting of the WG minor uses for ornamentals will be held on Tuesday, October 20th, 2015 in Milan (Location: Unioncamere Lombardia - Via Oldofredi, 23 - Milano).
