3 Highlights: TIG parts Magnetic bead leftover separation from eluted DNA A customized magnetic carrier (left picture, carrier in the center) was specifically designed in order to remove any traces of magnetic beads from the blue DNA collection reservoirs. At DNA extraction completion, the extractor slide holding the reservoirs with eluted DNA is moved against the magnetic carrier (central picture). The bead leftover is attracted by the strong neodymium magnets fixed on the carrier (right picture, beads are the black particles towards the magnets). The LiHa can then aspirate the eluted DNA from the reservoirs without collecting any beads and transfer it to the ABgene racks. 4 Highlights: Customized integration of Tecan modules Tecan Freedom EVO with customized arm configuration LiHa / RoMa Long / LiHa In order to perform 2 x 16 DNA extractions in parallel, two LiHa arms were installed on the Freedom EVO 200. The left LiHa arm was pipetting blood samples to the cartridges of the left extractor, while the right arm was executing the same process on the robot right end side. The Rack Type Editor is a new feature in the Extractor application software. It allows defining any type of destination racks for the Normalization DNA aliquots. According to the defined code in the Editor for each rack type, the system recognizes automatically which rack is on the worktable and loads the correct labware in Freedom EVOware for the pipetting step. Manufactured by TIG, Tecan Schweiz AG, Seestrasse 103, 8708 Männedorf Switzerland, TIGflyer p 4/7

5 Highlights: 3 rd party device integration Integration of the Promega Maxwell 16 Promega Maxwell 16 unit extracting DNA from 8 blood samples (left picture). The magnetic beads on the white plungers are drying out in the air for 5 minutes. Buffer cartridges with released plungers at process end (right picture). The DNA is dissolved in the elution buffer in the blue reservoirs. The magnetic beads are attracted by powerful neodymium magnets in front of the reservoirs. Integration of 2D BC reader Datalogic Matrix 200 Manufactured by TIG, Tecan Schweiz AG, Seestrasse 103, 8708 Männedorf Switzerland, TIGflyer p 5/7

6 Integration of the Trinean Dropsense reader The reader is integrated below the worktable and can be accessed by the RoMa Long Pipetting 2 l into the small input funnel of the DropSense plate for the reader Manufactured by TIG, Tecan Schweiz AG, Seestrasse 103, 8708 Männedorf Switzerland, TIGflyer p 6/7

7 Integration of the Brooks TubeAuditor Integration of the TubeAuditor below worktable The tube rack was positioned on the dedicated tray by RoMa long Typical picture of tubes taken by the TubeAuditor for volume assessment Scientific instrumentation; not for use in human, clinical or diagnostic procedure.
