1 GN-ID A & GN-ID B An identification system for commonly encountered Enterobacteriaceae, all currently recognised species of Enterobacteriaceae and an extensive range of oxidase-positive Gram Negative bacilli. GN-ID A is a convenient 12 substrate ID system for the most commonly isolated Enterobacteriaceae. Addition of the GN-ID B kit extends the format to a 24 substrate ID system for Enterobacteriaceae and Oxidase positive, Nonfastidious, Gram-Negative bacilli. For wider clinical applications and for veterinary and industrial samples, identification of all currently recognised species of Enterobacteriaceae and an extensive range of oxidase-positive Gram Negative Bacilli is achieved with the addition of the GN-ID Bidentification system. The GN-ID A System is for the identification of the commonly encountered Enterobacteriaceae from food or medical samples including urinary samples and common wound isolates. AOAC-RI validated Easy to use Results interpreted using Microgen-ID System Software

3 Listeria-ID An identification system for Listeria spp. A complete identification system, no additional materials required Substrates included conform to all international standards Enhanced built in haemolysis test CAMP test not required Validated for chromogenic media AFNOR validated with BioMerieux ALOA medium Inoculated directly from selective media (no need for sub-culturing before inoculation AOAC RI validated CMMAS Assessed and Approved Listeria-ID employs 12 standardised microwell substrates combined with the Microgen Identification System Software to identify members of the genus Listeria. AOAC-RI validated Easy to use No additional materials required Listeria monocytogenes Listeria welshimeri Listeria ivanovii Listeria innocua Listeria grayi Listeria seeligeri The above organisms can be identified directly from selective agar or non-selective agar using Microgen Listeria-ID. Identification is achieved using all the tests recommended in international standard methods for the identification of Listeria spp. without the need for additional confirmatory tests.

4 Listeria-ID Listeria-ID has optimised the differentiation of haemolytic and non-haemolytic Listeria spp. by improving the readability of the micro-haemolysis reaction, which eliminates the need to sub-culture from selective agar or perform a CAMP test. The readability of a negative haemolysis reaction has been improved; if an organism does not produce haemolysin, the red blood cells will remain intact and form a distinct red pellet. If an organism does produce haemolysin, the red cells will rapidly be lysed and cellular contents released as a red/ brown solution, indicating a positive result. As with all Microgen biochemical ID systems, Listeria-ID is supported by user friendly Computer Identification System Software (MID60), delivering the most comprehensive and up-to-date databases which registered users can update free-of-charge from the Bioproducts website. 5 Staph-ID An identification system for Staphylococci of clinical, veterinary and environmental importance. 12 test system minimises handling & manipulation Suitable for use with clinical and veterinary samples Can be used to identify isolates from food and environmental sources Substrates selected specifically for Staphylococci and related species Simple and easy-to-use Results in 24 hours Results interpreted using Microgen-ID Software System Staph-ID has been developed for the identification of commonly encountered Staphylococcus spp. isolated from clinical and veterinary samples. These bacteria, although commensal, are recognised as potential human Easy to use Results in 24 hours CE Marked pathogens e.g. S. aureus and S. epidermidis. Coagulase negative Staphylococcus spp. are common colonisers of prosthetic valves and indwelling catheters. Gram stain (positive), catalase (positive) and latex agglutination/coagulase tests are performed as pre-tests on the isolate. Colony pigmentation is recorded and then 1-2 colonies are inoculated into the suspending medium. The suspension is inoculated into the 12 well test strip and incubated at 37 C. After 24 hours incubation the strips are read and the Nitrate and PYR reagents added. The resulting 5 digit numerical code is entered in to the software and an identification returned.

7 Bacillus-ID An identification system for mesophilic Bacillus species and related genera associated with food poisoning and food spoilage. Simple and easy-to-use 24 reaction system Results in 48 hours Results interpreted using ID system software Bacillus-ID has been developed for the identification of mesophilic Bacillus spp. and related genera isolated from food, food ingredients and beverages either as food spoilage or food poisoning organisms. B. cereus and, to a lesser extent, B. licheniformis are well known as causative agents of food poisoning. Numerous other species, and related genera including B. pumilus, B. thuringiensis, B. brevis, B. mycoides, Paenibacillus alvei, B. circulans and B. sphaericus, have also been reported as causing food poisoning. The identification of these species has been difficult due to a combination of factors including: Confusion over the taxonomy of Bacillus spp. Variable performance in conventional biochemical test media Extensive range of conventional biochemical media required Reliance on microscopic endospore morphology Simple 24 reaction format Easy to use Results interpreted using Microgen-ID system software Bacillus-ID overcomes all of these problems with a simple, user friendly identification system presented in a convenient microwell format.
