9 Imaging Biomarker - Definition It is a parameter obtained objectively from medical images which represents and quantifies a tissue property (structural, functional or biological) extracted after applying computational models to images and specific signal processing. A map or a parametric volume represents its spatial distribution in the tissue analysed, with the pixel /voxel signal proportional to the magnitude of biomarker.
