16 Nanotechnologies the great Uncertainty?
17 NanoSize the great Uncertainty? nano- / nanә /nanә /- ORINGIN via L. from Gk nanos for dwarf Ω nano is the prefix for units of 10-9
18 NanoSize the great Uncertainty? Friends of the Earth (& BUND) Definition: All particles up to 300nm in size must be considered to be nanomaterials for the purposes of health and environment assessment, given the early evidence that they pose similar health risks as particles less than 100nm in size which have to date been defined as nano. Sol Association, ban of nanomaterials (2007): The nanotechnology standard: prohibits manufactured nanoparticles must not be < 125nm, unless mean > 200nm applies only to SA certified nanoparticles (but does not affect any existing certified products) not applies to naturally occurring nanoparticles ISO Technical Specification: Nanoscale: size range from approximately 1 nm to 100 nm Nano-object: material with one, two or three external dimensions in the nanoscale OECD Working party on Manufactured Nanomaterials (WPMN) Working Definition: Manufactured nanomaterials: Nanomaterials intentionally produced to have specific properties or specific composition. Nanoscale: The size range typically between 1 nm and 100 nm.
