Introducing the next generation of hospital disposable curtains... Who we are: In 2005, Bio Technics designed the world s first antimicrobial disposable curtain. Today, thousands of disposable curtains using our antimicrobial design are used in hospitals around the world. Now we are proud to introduce the next generation in curtain design: Endurocide Sporicidal Hospital Disposable Curtains Tested against: C.difficile spores VRE Serratia marcescens MRSA Aspergillus niger E.coli Salmonella choleraesuis E.hirae Pseudomonas aeruginosa 3

FEATURES & BENEFITS Traditional hospital curtains are time consuming to change, costly to launder and bulky to store. Additionally, curtains have the potential to become sources of pathogenic transmission as Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs), such as C.difficile spores, can remain on the curtain s surface for long periods. Our next generation of Sporicidal Hospital Disposable Curtains transforms all of this: Break the chain of infection Our unique patent pending formula traps and kills spores & bacteria on the surface of the curtain, helping to prevent the fabric from becoming a source of pathogenic transmission. Versatile Ideal for single use in isolation wards and burns units or for long-term continued use in general and intensive care wards. No track conversion Our fittings work with most popular track systems. 4 Test 2: University Hospital, Ullevål, Norway In this trial, Endurocide Sporicidal Curtains were compared to untreated traditional cotton curtains to test the bacterial loading of each curtain when used in-situ in a hospital ward. Endurocide Sporicidal Curtains and traditional cotton curtains were hung on opposite sides of the same ER ward. After 10 days, swabs were taken from the edge of each curtain at the natural point for drawing. These swabs were tested for Staphylococcus aureus. Results: More than LESS THAN cfu s on cotton curtain cfu s on Endurocide Curtain 150,000 Traditional Curtain 30 Endurocide Sporicidal Curtain Photographs are for illustration purposes only 9

INDEPENDENT HOSPITAL TRIALS Test 1: University Hospital, Copenhagen, Denmark Fitted in minutes Endurocide Sporicidal Disposable Hospital Curtains are manufactured from non-woven polypropylene which is impregnated with our patent pending Endurocide Sporicidal liquid. No hassle - lightweight and easy to fit or replace. In this trial, our treated Endurocide Sporicidal Curtain material was tested against untreated polypropylene in order to determine the bactericidal properties of the Endurocide Curtain against gram positive, gram negative and spore forming bacteria. Long lasting protection Proven to remain antimicrobial for up to 1 year. Samples of both fabrics were inoculated with the bacteria and imprints were taken on agar plates after 1 minute and 30 minutes. Self auditing & privacy label Results: Pathogen Time Endurocide Untreated Sporicidal polypropylene Curtain (no. of cfu s) (no. of cfu s) 1 minute 5, minute 30, minute 13, minutes 13,000 2 Spore forming bacteria: Bacillus cereus Gram positive bacteria: Enterococcus faecalis Gram negative bacteria: Serratia marcescens Fitted with easy to read labels showing date of installation. Includes do not enter sign to maintain patients privacy. Fitted with tie-backs Helps secure curtains when not in use. No laundry costs Simply remove, dispose and replace. 8 5

TEST METHODS How do Endurocide Hospital Curtains work? At the manufacturing stage, the curtain fabric is impregnated with our unique, patent pending Endurocide Sporicidal liquid, as well as a flame retardant chemical. Endurocide Sporicidal contains a highly effective blend of biocides proven to kill: spores bacteria fungi Endurocide Sporicidal works by coating the fabric with a biostatic polymer layer which traps pathogens on the fabric, preventing them from multiplying. Once the pathogens are trapped, Endurocide Sporicidal kills them by piercing through their cell walls and causing lethal DNA damage which: prevents respiration disrupts cell metabolism inhibits cell reproduction To validate these claims, the following testing has been carried out: 1 Independently tested by two hospitals in Scandinavia (see pages 8-9) 2 Endurocide Sporicidal Curtains have been tested to Internationally recognised fabric standards (see pages 11-12) 3 Endurocide Sporicidal Liquid has been tested to Internationally recognised disinfectant standards: EN EN EN 1650 EN

INTERNATIONAL FABRIC STANDARDS How do we test Endurocide Curtains? Endurocide Hospital Curtains are treated with Endurocide Sporicidal Liquid. Random samples of treated fabric are taken and tested to ensure correct sporicidal and antimicrobial activity. Which internationally recognised testing method do we use? Our preference is to quote the CG147 zone of inhibition test. How does test the fabric? 1 An agar plate is infected with a pathogen. 2 A sample of treated fabric is placed on the agar. 3 After 24 hours, if the fabric is antimicrobial, a ring will appear around the fabric sample - this ring is called the Zone of Inhibition (ZOI). The ZOI s diameter is then measured - the larger the ZOI, the more effective the fabric is against the pathogen CG147 results: Pathogen C.difficile spores First generation antimicrobial curtain (zone of inhibition) No result Endurocide Sporicidal Disposable Curtain (zone of inhibition) 8mm C.difficile vegetative No result 10mm Candida albicans No result 11mm Pseudomonas aeruginosa No result 6mm Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) 5mm 11mm Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis (VRE) 7mm 14mm Escherichia coli 4mm 10mm Enterococcus hirae Not tested 15mm Salmonella choleraesius Not tested 6mm 11

INTERNATIONAL FABRIC STANDARDS Endurocide Sporicidal Hospital Curtains are both bacteriostatic and bactericidal. Bacteriostatic means that the curtain is capable of inhibiting the growth and reproduction of bacteria. The International Standards for bacteriostatic fabrics are AATCC 147 and. These tests are qualitative tests, ie they evaluate if the fabric is antimicrobial. Bactericidal means that the curtain is capable of killing bacteria. The International Standards for bactericidal fabrics are AATCC 100 and JIS Z These tests are quantitative tests, ie the number / reduction of bacteria is counted. Endurocide Hospital Curtains have passed the following tests: Pathogen C.difficile spores Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase (VRE) E.coli C.difficile spores C.difficile vegetative Candida albicans Pseudomonas aeruginosa Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecalis (VRE) Escherichia coli Enterococcus hirae Salmonella choleraesius Escherichia coli Staphylococcus aureus Salmonella choleraesius Test Method AATCC 147 AATCC 147 AATCC 147 AATCC 100 JIS Z 2801 JIS Z 2801 Procedure Quantitative Quantitative Quantitative Pass For further information and test results, please visit MANUFACTURED EXCLUSIVELY BY: BIO TECHNICS LTD LINTON BUSINESS PARK, GOURDON, ABERDEENSHIRE, SCOTLAND, UK DD10 0NH T + 44 (0) E info@ endurocide. com W w w w. endurocide. com REGIONAL WINNER SCOTLAND & NORTHERN IRELAND HSBC BUSINESS THINKING 2O1O
