1 Classification: Reference: Date: EC02-013a ITB02-027a July 16, I30/I35; MIL "ON" WITH REAR O2 SENSOR DTC P0138/P0139/P0140/P0158/P0159/P0160/P1147/P1167 This bulletin supersesdes ITB01-011B, and amends ITB This version updates the Service Procedure and Applied Vehicles. Please discard all paper copies of ITB and previous version of ITB APPLIED VEHICLES: I30 (CA33) 2002 I35 (CA33) IF YOU CONFIRM: An Applied Vehicle has an MIL "ON" and any of the following DTC s stored in the ECM: P0138 (Bank 1) H02S2 (Rear) (Max Voltage Monitoring) P0139 (Bank 1) H02S2 (Rear) (Response Monitoring) P0140 (Bank 1) H02S2 (Rear) (High Voltage) P1147 (Bank 1) H02S2 (Rear) (High Voltage Monitoring) P0158 (Bank 2) H02S2 (Rear) (Max Voltage Monitoring) P0159 (Bank 2) H02S2 (Rear) (Response Monitoring) P0160 (Bank 2) H02S2 (Rear) (High Voltage Monitoring) P1167 (Bank 2) H02S2 (Rear) (High Voltage Monitoring), DETERMINE IF: This bulletin applies by performing steps 1 and 2 of the Service Procedure. ACTIONS: a. Replace both rear Oxygen Sensors (HO2S2). b. Reprogram the ECM: Standard reprogramming procedure (if vehicle has a standard airflow meter, P/N AD200 or N201 see Chart A-1 on page 3), or Special reprogramming procedure using ECM ID code (if vehicle has an updated airflow meter, P/N Y001 or AM600 see Chart A-2 on page 3). IMPORTANT: The purpose of ACTIONS (above) is to give you a quick idea of the work you will be performing. You MUST closely follow the entire Service Procedure (starting on page 2) as it contains information that is essential to successfully completing this repair. Due to the complexity of this procedure, this procedure should only be performed by a technician who is already familiar with ECM reprogramming. 1/8

Code. The I.D. code is required to obtain the correct ECM data for resolving the symptom covered by this bulletin. A. If the ECM P/N in the vehicle does not match one of those listed under "Current ECM P/N" in Chart A-1 or A-2 above: This bulletin does not apply. Use the appropriate Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to further diagnose and repair the incident. B. If the ECM P/N in the vehicle matches one of those listed under "Current ECM P/N" in Chart A-1 or A-2 above: Proceed with this Service Procedure. 3. Replace both rear oxygen sensors HO2S2 B1 and B2. 3/8

5 4. Perform ECM reprogramming to install the latest available ECM data. A. For vehicles with an ECM P/N that matches one listed in Chart A-1 (vehicles with a standard airflow meter): Perform standard ECM reprogramming on page 6. If you are unfamiliar with ECM Reprogramming, click here to link to the "ECM Reprogramming For Infiniti Vehicles" general procedure or refer to Attachment A in the print copy of this bulletin. B. For vehicles with an ECM P/N that matches one listed in Chart A-2 (vehicles with an updated airflow meter): Perform Special ECM reprogramming using the ECM ID Code on page 7. If you are unfamiliar with special ECM Reprogramming, click here to link to the "SPECIAL ECM REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE FOR ECM I.D. ENTRY " general procedure or refer to Attachment 1 in the print copy of this bulletin. This I.D. code reprogramming process is different from the standard ECM reprogramming procedures you may be used to. IMPORTANT: Some vehicles may have an updated airflow meter with matching ECM reprogramming data To make sure you obtain the correct reprogramming data, the type of airflow meter installed in the vehicle should be confirmed by checking the ECM and airflow meter part numbers (P/N). Vehicles with an ECM P/N that matches one listed in Chart A-1 on page 3 should have the standard airflow meter. a : Standard Airflow Meter P/N AD200 b. 2002: Standard Airflow Meter P/N N201 Vehicles with an ECM P/N that matches one listed in Chart A-2 on page 3 should have the updated airflow meter. a : Updated Airflow Meter P/N Y001 b. 2002: Updated Airflow Meter P/N AM600 5/8
