2 Synexil Osakryl Synthos S.A. grew out of the companies Firma Chemiczna Dwory S.A. and Kaucuk a.s. SYNTHOS, the current name of the company (introduced in 007), derives from a fusion of two words of Greek origin, synthesis (join) and orthos (proper, right). The name replicates the Company s mission which is to manufacture and supply its clients with chemical products for further processing, contributing to the development of each client s business. The name also reflects the nature of the Company s operations in chemical synthesis. The activity of SYNTHOS S.A. concentrates on five main groups of products: synthetic rubbers, styrene plastics, specialist products (acrylic and vinyl dispersion, and latex and dispersion adhesives), plant protection products and liposomes. SYNTHOS S.A. is the largest European producer of synthetic rubbers and expandable polystyrenes (EPS). SYNTHOS S.A. makes sure that buyers are satisfied with the scope of raw materials, semifinished products and chemical products. The company focuses its activities on quality and efficient customer service, as well as on the innovative character of products, attractive prices, ecological safety of their technologies and products, and on occupational safety. This effort has been backed up by the implementation of a certified Integrated Quality, Environment and Work Safety Management System. In 011, the company launched production of neodymium-catalyzed butadiene rubber (NdBR) in the production plant in Czech Republic (Karlupy). High quality neodymium-catalyzed butadiene rubber is used for mixture for production of advanced car and truck tires and various rubber technical products. In 0 the Boryszew ERG S.A. Dispersion and Adhesive manufacturing unit was added to Synthos S.A. In August 015, Synthos S.A. completed the construction of a modern SSBR rubber production plant. Synexil, Osakryl are market brands of water dispersions produced by Synthos S.A. Both groups include acrylic and styrene-acrylic products as well as acrylic monomer copolymers with other monomers and dispersions based on vinyl acetate. Synthos aqueous dispersions portfolio satisfies the needs of coatings and building and construction industry for such applications as paints, plasters, primers, putties including decorative (stuccos), varnishes and coatings for wood, adhesives for various applications such as: for wood, paper& packaging and many others. All dispersions are free of APEO emulsifiers (alkylphenol ethoxylates), solvents, hazardous plasticizers or other substances harmful to human health or the environment included in the REACH Candidate List of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) for Authorization at an individual concentration equal to or higher than the acceptable norms. In doing so, our products are subject to the strict internal quality control in accordance with the certified quality control system ISO. Additional parameters, important from our business partners point of view, can be included on the client s request. 3 AP40 is recommended for the formulation of deep penetrating primers for mineral substrates (e.g. of concrete, bricks, plasterboards, gypsum and cement-lime plasters) and wood stains or impregnants. In contrast to competitors products film whitening after 4 h immersion in demineralised water at 3 C does not occur. Primers based on Osakryl AP40 exhibit outstanding water resistance and may provide a barrier to salt migration.

A slurry of 40 % by weight of water and 60 % by weight of Omyacarb VA is prepared in a dissolver. Then it is poured into glass dishes (4 cm in diameter and 1,5 cm in height). The slurry is dried at 0 C for 4 h and then conditioned for 4 h at room temperature. 0,5 ml of the primer ( % solids content) is added dropwise on the surface of the disc at a rate of about 1 drop per second. The sample is dried at 0 C for h. After drying the dish is rinsed under running water, then the core is dried for h at 50 C. The dried core is weighted. The higher the weight, the better the consolidation. The sample is dried at 0 C for h. The measurement of penetration depth is made by using a drop of water to see the difference in absorbency of the chalk. The penetration power is inversely proportional to solids content of the primer and it depends on the porosity of the substrate.
