1 8 th WHO Vector Control Advisory Group Meeting General Progress and Update on VCAG Thomas W. Scott, VCAG Chair 14 May 2018

2 The role of VCAG VCAG serves as an advisory body to WHO on new tools, technologies and approaches for the control of vectors of malaria and other vector-borne diseases. To assist WHO in developing public health policy on new tools, VCAG assesses the public health value of new interventions and provides guidance on developing the evidence base required to inform such assessments by the group. Management of VCAG is a joint responsibility of the WHO Global Malaria Programme (GMP), the Department of Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTD), and the WHO Prequalification Team (PQT) for vector control products.

3 Updates on VCAG activities 1. Current meeting will review 9 products classes, 2 new submissions tools are at stage 3 (epi trials) 3. Staffing update New VCAG Project Manager hired (Ms Anna Bowman) 4. Full integration of WHO PQ-VC into VCAG Secretariat 5. Sustainability exercise and consultation with selected stakeholders on areas for VCAG improvement
