Report from JCTLM Member organizations Organization: Quik SAS JCTLM Member status: Stakeholder Author(s): Porras-Caicedo, Aìda Author(s) (s): Period covered: Promoting traceability in laboratory medicine Quik SAS, a Colombian Organization, has promoted the metrological traceability in laboratory medicine during the period with the following activities: during 2015 Quik throught its Scientific Director, Aìda Porras, designed for posgraduate students of University of Boyacà the study unit of Metrology, introducing in this the concept of metrological traceability in medical laboratories, with topics like ISO 17511:2003, Linda Thienpoint papers and presentation. At 2016, in November 04, we participated in the National congress for profesional in clinical laboratory (CNB), in Bogotà- Colombia, with the conference: Metrological Traceability in the Laboratory Medicine: Concepts and benefits. The same month in November 25, we participated in the International Congress of Science Laboratory Quito- Ecuador with the workshop: Metrological Traceability in the clinical laboratory. We have developed 2 apps for smarthphone including the information about material and method of references approved by JCTLM withthe objective that the medical laboratory professionals get this information fast and easy and keet this information in their pockets. We developed an application for make easier a diagnostic of the status of metrological traceability of the 46 magnitudes corresponding to chain 1( in agree with ISO17511:2003), With our external Quality control program, QAP we have introduced 2 new services, 1. offer the diagnosis of metrological traceability with the magnitudes with which the aboratory participate and 2. comparison with a value gotten from a laboratory which is traceable to material and/or method approved by JCTLM September 2017, V

1. Activity: Conference: Metrological Traceability in the Laboratory Medicine: Concepts and benefits Date: November 4 th and 7 th, 2016 XVI International Congress of Colegio Nacional de Bacteriología Led by: Colegio Nacional de Bacteriología Location: Bogotá Colombia Doctor Aída Porras, Quik Manager, Master in Biology with emphasis in Clinical Biochemistry led the conference named Metrological Traceability in the Clinical Laboratory: Concepts and Benefits the last November 7 th, Activity: Conference: Metrological Traceability in the Clinical Laboratory Date: November 25 th and 26 th, 2016 International Congress of Science Laboratory Updated Led by: AJ Eventos Capacitación continuada Location: Quito Ecuador September 2017, V

Quik S.A.S participated in the International Congress of Science Laboratory Update the last 25 th November, 2016 with a workshop of Metrological Traceability in the Clinical Laboratory, the speaker was the Doctor Aída Porras and we had ten Laboratory Medicine professionals attendees. 3. Activity: Development of app with metrological traceability information Created by: Quik S.A.S Quik S.A.S. has developed a tool (App) in Excel that is available for Smartphone on Apple and Android platform, these have been created with the purpose of facilitating the diagnosis of metrological Traceability in Clinical laboratories, as well as the information of reference material, the methods of reference and the reference laboratories have been located in the metrological traceability part, there the laboratory can access the analytes and see for example the reference material approved by the JCTLM. 4. Activity: Diagnostic Matrix of metrological traceability A matrix was designed to make the diagnosis of the analytes that belong to the first metrological traceability chain, which are 46 magnitudes. All the reference materials and methods that are endorsed by the JCTLM were included, thus facilitating the diagnosis of comparison between what the laboratory is using to identify, if it is traceable by material and method. September 2017, V

5. Activity: Development of Quality assurance program Created by: Quik S.A.S Metrological traceability, refers to the property of a result of a measurement, by which, this can be related to a reference. The QAP External Quality Control takes the analytes reported and verifies by JCTLM if there is traceability by material and / or reference method. If there is a material and / or reference method for a measured, the clinical laboratory should use the measurement reagents that are traceable to any of the existing reference materials and / or methods or to the international system of IS units. Additionally, QUIK evaluates the cycle samples in a laboratory that has material and / or reference method traceable by JCTLM. September 2017, V

6. Activity: Conference: Metrological Traceability on the results of Albumin, creatinine and HbA1c Date: February 28 th, 2017 Symposium of topics related to the patient with dialysis Led by: Quik S.A.S Location: Medellin Colombia September 2017, V

7. Activity: Conference: Harmonization and Standardization of the clinical laboratory Date: March 15 th and 16 th, 2017 First International update course in continuing education of the clinical laboratory, certification and accreditation in quality management. Led by: AJ Eventos Educación Continuada Location: Guayaquil Ecuador During the past 15th and 16th of March 2017, our speaker Aida Porras shared her knowledge about the harmonization and standardization of the clinical laboratory with the Clinical Laboratories and the health institutions of Ecuador. 8. Activity: Talk: JCTLM: Joint Committee for Traceability in Laboratory Medicine September 2017, V

Date: March 31 st, 2017 Led by: Quik S.A.S. Location: Medellin Colombia This Presentation was directed to the Labs agents of high complex from Medellin and Antioquia. During the event, it was promoted the website of the JCTLM.org and the app developed by Quik S.A.S for smartphone where you can research the Lab tests which are traceable metrologically to the materials and reference method. Moreover support laboratories in the recognition of metrologically traceable tests. 9. Activity: Symposium: The role of harmonization and standardization of the clinical laboratory in patient assurance Date: June 8 th and 9 th, 2017 II International Symposium on Comprehensive Diagnosis: a vision from the clinical laboratory and pathology Led by: Colsanitas Location: Bogotá Colombia September 2017, V

In the academic framework of the Symposium, Quik participated with the Speech Harmonization and Standardization of the Clinical Laboratory in Patient assurance, given by Dr. Aída Porras Caicedo MSC. Clinical Biochemistry and Scientific Director of Quik, in this conference Dr. Aída Porras talked about topics related to the meaning of patient safety, the development of the concepts of Harmonization and Standardization within the framework of patient assurance, the actors within the harmonization and standardization, the status and pillars of harmonization, the main leaders of the harmonization of the clinical laboratory and the presentation of the JCTLM organization. 10. Activity: Conference: Metrological Traceability on the results of Albumin, creatinine and HbA1c Date: July 25 th, 2017 Symposium of topics related to the patient with dialysis in the Clinical Laboratory Led by: Quik S.A.S Location: Cali Colombia During the session academic the conference counted with laboratory Medical of the Institutions: Fundación Valle de Lili, Angel Central de Procesos, Clónica Club Noel, Colsanitas Sebastían de Belalcazar, Clínica Imbanaco, Laboratorio Echavarria, Cedit and Fresenius Medical Care.
