Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Objective of the MSCA: Ensure the optimum development and dynamic use of Europe s intellectual capital in order to generate new skills, knowledge and innovation Budget : million

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Key features Open to all domains of research and innovation from basic research up to market take-up and innovation services Entirely bottom-up Participation of non-academic sector strongly encouraged, especially industry and SMEs Mobility as the key requirement - funding on condition participants move from one country to another Promotion of attractive working and employment conditions Particular attention to gender balance Public engagement of supported researchers One call per each MSC action per year

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Planned deadlines 12. Jan Sept Apr 2016 Info meeting 13th October :00-14:30 Forskningsrådet, Lysaker ative_training_networks_itn_2016/ ?lang=en

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Research networks (ITN) Support for Innovative Training Networks European Training Networks (ETN) joint research training and/or doctoral programmes Joint research training, implemented by at least three partners from in and outside academia European Industrial Doctorates (EID) for the doctoral candidates to develop skills inside and outside academia that respond to public and private sector needs European Joint Doctorates (EJD) a network with the aim of delivering joint, double or multiple degrees. Joint supervision is mandatory Implemented by European partnerships of universities, research institutions, and non-academic organisations.

Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Individual Fellowships (IF) Objective to enhance the creative and innovative potential of experienced researchers to provide opportunities to acquire new knowledge, work on research projects in a European context or outside Europe, resume a career or return to Europe Scope Individual, trans-national fellowships awarded to the best or most promising researchers (all nationalities, subject to mobility rule) European Fellowships (12-24 months) or Global Fellowships (12-24 months + mandatory return phase of 12 months) Career Restart Panel and Reintegration Panel Secondments, notably in the non-academic sector, embedded in the career development Expected Impact to release the full potential of researchers and to catalyse significant development in their careers in both the academic and non-academic sectors

Ethichs in H2020- ETHICS APPRAISAL STEPS Ethics Selfassessment Activity Who? When? How? Applicant Application phase Consideration of ethical issues of the proposal Ethics Pre-screening /Screening Ethics experts Evaluation phase Review of application material Ethics Assessment (for proposals involving hesc or raising serious ethical issues) Ethics experts Evaluation/ Grant preparation phase Review of application material Ethics Check/Audit Ethics experts Implementation phase Review of project deliverables/intervi ew with applicants

ANIMALS 6. THIRD COUNTRIES 7. ENVIRONMENT & HEALTH and SAFETY 8. DUAL USE ethics self-assessment Part B of your proposal (as a separate annex) describe how the proposal meets the national legal and ethical requirements of the country or countries where the tasks raising ethical issues are to be carried out explains in detail how you intend to address the issues in the ethical issues table provide the documents that you need under national law(if you already have them), e.g.: an ethics committee opinion; the document notifying activities raising ethical issues or authorising such activities nts/data/ref/h2020/grants_manual/hi/ ethics/h2020_hi_ethics-selfassess_en.pdf

Human embryos and foetuses (reefering mainly to human embryonic stem cells (hesc)) The following fields of research cannot be financed at all under Horizon 2020 research activities aiming at human cloning for reproductive purposes research activity intended to modify the genetics of human beings that could make such changes heritable (exception: research relating to cancer treatment of the gonads) research activities intended to create human embryos solely for the purpose of research or for the purpose of stem cell procurement, incl. by means of somatic cell nuclear trans Research on human stem cells (both adult and embryonic) may be financed depending both on the contents of the scientific proposal and the legal framework of the Member States involved.

Novel, innovative and interdisciplinary basic research focused on the complex mechanisms of living organisms; Topics range from molecular and cellular approaches to systems and cognitive neuroscience and the interactions between organisms. A clear emphasis is placed on novel collaborations that bring biologists together with scientists from fields such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer science and engineering to focus on problems at the frontier of the life sciences. International collaboration Young Investigators' Grants, Less than 10 yrs after PhD Less than 5 yrs after starting independent lab/group Program Grants Any career stage Postdoctoral Fellowships Less than 3 yrs since PhD 3 years Move into new line of study in a new country Annual calls Must register well before deadline Submit letter of Intent at call deadline Full proposal by invitation only Ian Gjertz: ig@rcn.no
