3 SUPPORTING PROGRAM The supporting program of LASER World of PHOTONICS distinguishes itself through its consistent application orientation and received 96% positive visitor ratings. In focus: The entire spectrum of lasers and laser systems for production engineering. The application level has been a core competency of the world s leading photonics trade fair since its first event in 1973, which has evolved into the largest event for this topic area worldwide. SPECIAL SHOW Looking back: The 2017 special show Photons in Production in cooperation with the Institute for Machine Tools and Industrial Management at the Technical University of Munich (iwb) and the Bavarian Laser Center in Erlangen (blz) had the slogan Light under Control. It featured application examples, live demonstrations and technical lectures on the following topics: Welding of high-strength steel Battery production Laser safety Lightweight design and e-mobility: a new e-mobility solution for small commercial vehicles GUIDED TOURS Exhibitors present customer-specific manufacturing solutions to their visitors in themed tours guided by specialists from well-established research institutions to expand their target audience. APPLICATION PANELS Experts present the latest application sectors for the tool of light in practical Application Panels. In 2017, approximately 1,500 audience members attended the application-oriented series of lectures on the latest topics, challenges and solution approaches in photonics. Topic highlights in 2017: Simulation in photonics Successful industrial implementations of ultrashort pulse lasers Lasers in microelectronics: The smart connected world approaching 3D printing: Laser-based additive manufacturing of metal components Smart laser applications for smart mobility Laser processing of hard/brittle materials (glass, ceramics) world-of-photonics.com/program
