WELCOME HELIOSCREEN Dominique LUTZ CEO Scientist Manager Since 1999, the HelioScreen laboratory is the extension of a personal conviction of the merits of In Vitro techniques for the evaluation of solar products - on the condition of perfectly mastering the many technical and even political obstacles to achieve. This conviction was then little shared, even criticized. But what surprises, excitement and satisfaction firstly personal and then within a team, we brought each step of the mastery of our know-how. Our course has never been changed, our convictions have never been shaken, we are never scattered on the altar of profit and imperative development of the company. Our roots are deep, they now feed our expertise and our ability to be and remain pioneers and leaders... 7 BASIS KNOWLEDGE Through the choice of UV filters, the 3 different values for relevant sun protection and the strategy for suncare product development based on 3 steps, discover the basis of sunscreen summarized in the parts here below. Sunscreen product (Emulsion, Oil, Stick, Powder...) Organic UV filter Inorganic UV filter Sun protection efficiency brought by: - UV filters intrasic performance (quantity, quality, solubilization...) - quality of the film forming (thickness, repartition...) Absorbing effect UV Scattering & Absorbing effect according to particule size UV 3 values for relevant sun protection In order to ensure a relevant sun protection, both UVB and UVA minimal protection must be reached according to 3 different well-known values. SPF Sun Protection Factor (mainly UVB protection) UVA-PF UVA Protection Factor (UVA protection) CW Critical Wavelength (UVB/UVA balance protection) Strategy for suncare product development in 3 steps A global strategy based on 3 different steps helps you to save money, save time, ensure sun protection efficiency for regulations and consumer health safety. 1 st step KNOW YOUR PRODUCT Detect the best formula or raw material performance Estimate the sun protection efficiency for claiming step 2 nd step CLAIM YOUR PRODUCT Test in order to be in compliance with regulation Claim additional sun protection efficiency (Water Resistance...) 3 rd step CONTROL YOUR PRODUCT Check the sun protection efficiency between several batches, ageing, formula

SUBSTRATE & EQUIPMENT This part is dedicated to the consummables, equipments and services which are required in order to perfom In Vitro suncare tests. If you are an institute, a cosmetic company, a manufacturer of UV filters, a research laboratory, a university... or for your in-house test, raw material development, new product lunch, claiming test... you will be satisfied with our substrates, our devices and our services. Sanyo Trading is the trading company who offers specialized excellent products in rubber, chemical, machinery and scientific instrument. Sanyo Trading have been providing the requirements for Sun screen testing such as in vitro SPF analyzer, solar simulator, reference sunscreen and substrate. By 5-6 years ago, most of domestic cosmetic companies had been using surgical tape for in vitro Sun screen testing. Many of them had desired consistent, reproducible test substrate at that time. Once new excellent substrate Helioplate was introduced to the cosmetic researchers, Helioplate takes over the fame of most commonly used substrate for Sun screen testing. Helioplate is now supplied to most of cosmetic companies in Japan by Rie Kumemura of Sanyo Trading Sun screen testing team with courteousness service and support. Ken Nishimoto 14

SUBSTRATE - HELIOPLATE PMMA MOLDED HD6 From our knowledge and expertise, we have provided the first worldwide substrate recognized for the In Vitro sun protection evaluation. The characteristics of this substrate - roughness and transmission - are in total compliance with all international standards and methods such as ISO 24443:2012 for In Vitro UVA-PF and Critical Wavelength assessment or the FDA rev for Broadspectrum determination... You will improve the reliability of your results with this reproducible substrate. Furthermore, the plate has been specificaly designed in order to avoid roughness damage and to save place for stockage. 2D view 3D view Picture VIEW Manufactured by means of a molding process with our partner La Française des Plastiques, this substrate is delivered with a quality certificate ensuring the reproducibility of roughness. PROCESS Heated PMMA balls Pressure system Mold Mold Lock system Molded plate Surface profile characteristics of the substrate is measured covering at least a surface area of 10 mm x 5 mm in 15-μm intervals. Non-contact surface topographic analysis is conducted using a lab work station consisting of an optical sensor, a motion controller, an x-y translation stage, and microtopography software. A sensor based on a white light chromatic aberration principle is used which allows for a high resolution: 10 nm vertically and 1 um horizontally. QUALITY 15

SUBSTRATE - HELIOPLATE PMMA SANDBLASTED SB6 Since last year, our laboratory has proposed you this substrate obtained by a unique sandblasting process. In total compliance with FDA rev method for Broadspectrum assessment, this substrate follows the same principle, the reproducibility of topographics parameters. With the same design than Molded HD6, this substrate will help you to evaluate suncare products which need more carefully. 2D view 3D view Picture VIEW Manufactured by means of a new reproducible sandblasting process, this substrate is delivered with a quality certificate ensuring the reproducibility of roughness as for molded HD6 substrate.. 17 EQUIPMENT HD-THERMASTER The control of the temperature at substrates surface is a key parameter to ensure the reliability of the In Vitro tests. It has been demonstrated that such control is essential during whole process of sunscreen evaluation and not only with the control of the room temperature process. The HD-THERMASTER specifically designed for In Vitro to control and maintain the temperature during whole process. Adapted to receive the HD6 and SB6 substrates, the future In Vitro methods for sun protection evaluation must necessarily take into account the control of the temperature at the substrates surface. Do you want reliable sun protection results? Ask for control of the temperature «Temperature is a key test parameter that should be strictly controlled to ensure reliability.» UV Transmission Assessment: Influence of Temperature on Substrate Surface S. Miksa, D. Lutz and C. Guy Cosmetics & Toiletries, July 2013 Ask us more information HD-THERMASTER By 17

EQUIPMENT HD-SPREADMASTER It has been demonstrated that the human spreading provides a significant variability in the results even if the tests are performed in the best conditions. After several months of development, the HD-SPREADMASTER allows total control of sunscreen spreading by means of its concept of robot spreading. Suitable for Molded HD6 and Sandblasted SB6 substrates, this indispensable device specifically dedicated for the In Vitro suncare tests ensures you reproducible results, save time and save money. Do you want reliable sun protection results? Ask for robotic spreading «Reliability and reproducibility are key to the approval and correlation of a new, harmonized test method.» In Vitro UV Testing Robot vs. Human Spreading for Repeatable, Reproducible Results S.
