3 History INIC, since 2012, has planned to set up a series of international follow-up events focusing on commercialization and economic issues of Nanotechnologies to be held annually in Tehran along with Iran Nano Festival. The first international Nano Forum (INF 2012) took place on October 6-7 th in parallel with Iran 5th international Nano Festival and focused on «Industry and Marketing» with the aim of promotion of nanotechnology commercialization. Following the successful event of INF 2012, now the «International Forum on Nanotechnology Economy (IFNE 2013)» is arranged for 2-3 Oct The Forum will address various aspects of Nanotechnology business, commercialization, funding, managements, etc. During the two days of this event which will run along with Iran 6 th International Nanotechnology Festival (5 th -9 th Oct 2013) leading nanotechnology experts, scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs and VC investors from various countries present their views on the challenges facing nanotechnology business and economy. Participants would have the possibility to share their latest achievements and experiences on nanotechnology related issues. Apart from invited talks to be delivered by well- known international experts, the event will run as open discussion panels for more integration between attendants. Topics are selected based on the needs and challenges which countries are facing in the field of nanotechnology economy.

10 About INIC Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council INIC was officially established in 2003, having as its main objective the development and promotion of nanotechnology in Iran. The «Future Strategy» Plan as a ten year nano initiative program was proved by the government in July This plan aimed to position Iran among the top 15 countries in the field of nanotechnology. It consists of 27 action plans in the following categories: promotion & cultivation, S&T infrastructures, International collaborations, human resource development, technology development, commercialization, Industry &Market and policy & evaluation. According to the assessment made in 2012 approximately 3.56% of the total nanotechnology papers in the world have been published by Iranian researchers, which show a growth of about 20% from the year Iran still holds the first place in the production of nano sciences in the region while has been ranked 8th in the world by 1st of July The number of economic entities active in nanotechnology reached 364 by May 2013, which includes 234 production entities, 25 equipment manufacturing firms, 34 commercial offices, 33 service providers, and 38 technology development services broker companies. According to the statistics provided by the active companies, the number of nano products manufactured at the industrial level is 152, out of which 37 products are nanotechnology equipment.
