An introduction to the interdisciplinary nature of biomedical engineering. The biological, chemical, electrical, and mechanical principles involved in the design and operation of medical devices. NEW: An introduction to the role of biomedical engineering in the diagnosis and treatment of various pathologies such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, diabetes, and neurological disorders. For each disease model, biomedical engineering principles are used to examine the function of the organ, mechanisms of the disease, diagnostic tools, and treatment approaches.
