14 Key Learnings Planning! Planning! Planning! Face-to-face / Whiteboard / Workshops for design phase More time in planning, architecting and less on executing Document everything. Switching agreements to move from Gen1 to Gen 2 delayed the project Streamlined communications Status update meetings make it mandatory Need for Onsite presence during key milestones and hyper care support Start early on integration testing, especially if external vendors are involved UAT testing must include users from each global location (Connectivity must be tested) Technical - OCI Private Subnets can t access Object Storage Cannot do in-place version upgrade on DBCS Load Balancers can t do redirects (e.g. http to https). Need Apps tier to perform this function Terraform provider for OCI is evolving, may need to use CLI in some cases Bastian Server Key Management DBCS cannot support more than one database instance OEM should be installed on a compute server along with the database Don t forget to migrate TDE keys from source (Copy wallet folders) Cannot assign desired IP to DBCS Never ignore the role and impact of Customer of the customer! 14
