Supervisors, maintenance personnel, and machine operators report safety, production, status, and machine health issues through printed spreadsheet forms or customprinted log books, or expensive fixed-custom in-cab computers. The paper bound data is then input by clerks, often only partially, into a database or spreadsheet. That paper form is later bagged or put into binders and stored so inspectors can investigate the forms in more detail, if needed.
