Costpoint Enterprise Reporting (CER) includes numerous framework manager models that support dashboards and over a hundred reports. Most of the framework models in CER are designed for relational style reporting. Starting in CER 7.., dimensional style of reporting is introduced which you can use when designing reports and dashboards. The Dimensional styles are found in these models: Project Reporting and Analysis This model gets data from Costpoint Project tables. Project Planning Reporting and Analysis This model gets data from Budgeting & Planning. The rest of the CER models use the relational style of reporting.

Use Relational style when you create reports that have data as tables and columns and only use query subject and query items. An example of this is Labor Utilization in Team Content» Costpoint Enterprise Reporting» s» Costpoint» Projects CP.

Use Dimensional style when you create reports that have data as a number of dimensions intersecting at cells. Instead of query items and query subjects, you use measures, levels, and level properties. Dimensional models also makes it easier to create dashboards. An example of this is the Org Mgr CP Performance Analytics dashboard found in Team Content» Projects» Dashboards» Org Mgr CP Performance Analytics. Another example is the BnP PSR Trending Analysis in Team Content» Planning» Reports» BnP PSR Trending Analysis.

All areas in the Team content folder use relational style. However, the Planning and Project areas use both relational and dimensional models.

Relational Models CER (Core) CER for HR & Payroll CER for Project Manufacturing CER for Shop Floor Time CER for B&P CPSOX TESOX ICS CER for Costpoint Administration CER for Fixed Asset Dimensional and Relational Project Reporting and Analysis Project Planning Reporting and Analysis Most of the CER framework models use relational style. On the other hand, there are two new models that includes packages that support both Dimensional and Relational.

(Dimensional) Project Analysis Package Project Reporting and Analysis Model Project Planning Reporting and Analysis Model (Dimensional) Project Planning Analysis Package (Relational) Project Reporting Package The Project Reporting and Analysis model includes the following packages. Data is sourced from Costpoint Projects. Project Analysis You can use this when you create dashboards and dimensional style of reports that has cube-like hierarchies and drill-thru. Project Reporting You can use this for relational style of reporting. The Project Planning Reporting and Analysis Model also includes two packages. The difference is that it gets data from Budgeting & Planning. Project Planning Analysis This is used for dimensional style of reports and dashboards. Project Planning Reporting This is used for relational style of reports. (Relational) Project Planning Reporting Package

The Analysis package is an easy to use framework model using DMR (Dimensionally Modelled Relational), a Cognos modelling technique allowing to present relational data sources as OLAP cubes adding the notion of dimensions with hierarchies and measures with various aggregation rules. Unlike relational models, this new dimensional model allows you to create reports and dashboards with cube-like hierarchies and drill-thru. Dimensional models are easier for non-technical users to create report and dashboard content since they do not have to conform to a traditional table structure.

The has been recently introduced in CER and is found in the Projects and Planning areas in Team Content. In Projects, go to Team content» Projects» Packages» Project Analysis In Planning, go to Team content» Planning» Packages» Project Planning Analysis

To see an example, open the Project Analysis package. Click New» Dashboard.

Select a dashboard template and then click OK.

Click the Add a source icon.

Scroll down to Team Content» Projects.

Select Packages.

Select Project Analysis.

Click Add.

Expand the Project Analysis model. To see more of the Project Analysis framework model, open the Project Reporting and Analysis.cpf in IBM Cognos Framework Manager. The Project Reporting and Analysis.cpf is included in your installation. The default location is: C:\Program Files (x86)\deltek\costpointenterprisereporting\cer7\projects\model

These are Dimensions. Dimensions are a way to present data and look at them in different views.*dimensions are broad groupings of descriptive data about a major aspect of a business. Examples of these are Fiscal Period, Project, and Organization. These are Measures which are your amounts, figures, or things that you add up together. For example, Actual Rates. Similar to relational style of models, there are also filters that you can apply to your report or dashboard. *Source: data.html

Fiscal Period is a Time Dimension where you find your Year, and your Periods, and your Subperiods. You can use the Current Period Flag (Y/N) to filter on the current period. This current period is controlled by the administrator of the Costpoint database that automatically adjusts to the set period. For example, if the Current Reporting Period Flag is set to Yes and the administrator moves the current period in Costpoint, the dashboards in CER will automatically move as well.

This is the Project Dimension that contains all the levels of projects. *Levels are positions within the dimensional hierarchy that contain information at the same order of detail and have attributes in common. Multiple levels can exist within a level hierarchy, beginning with a root level. The details per level lessens as you go through each level. *Source: data.html

The Organization dimension refers to the transaction or performing organization. The Organization (Owning) dimension refers to the owning organization of a project. The Account dimension includes an account hierarchy where you can get account-level information. The Account Type dimension is different types of accounts grouped together. For example if you use Revenue Expense, you will get accounts that are part of the revenue versus the accounts for expenses. You can also break it down further into line items. Use the Employee dimension when you want to get employee level information. For example, you have labor information and you want to get the names attributed to that labor. Use the Employee dimension. The Pool dimension includes different kinds of pools, for example, overhead pools for G&A overhead costs. You can also get the pool number information. Use the Company dimension to get company related information such as the Company ID.

The Relative Time folder includes calculations that are based on the current period. So if you want a prior period, it will relatively adjust to what the current period is or you can get trended data, prior year data, inception-to-date roll up, or year-to-date roll up.

The Actual/Budget measure should be used with PSR Line items found in Project Analysis» Account Type» Project Status Info» Project Status Line Items. For example, if you use Actual (at Actual Rate) it shows the aggregated amount that includes everything such as the Revenue + Expenses + non-labor. For the value to make sense, use this measure together with the Project Status Line Description so the values displayed are properly labeled or identified. The Actual Rates measure does not need the PSR Line items because the figures displayed are specific segments of the actual amounts. For example, if you use Gross Profit, it will show the Revenue plus Award minus the direct expenses (that is Direct Labor and Direct Non-Labor). The Target Rate and Budget measures have the same folder structure as the Actual Rates. For example, if you use Gross Profit, it will show the Revenue plus Award minus the direct expenses (that is Direct Labor and Direct Non-Labor). Use the By Labor measure if you want to put in labor amounts. If you want to see labor hours per employee, use the labor amounts with the Employee dimension. If you have Labor Suppression turned on as security, you will only see labor hours and not labor amounts in the employee level. If you have Organization Security embedded in the models, you will only see organizations that you have access to. Use the By ITD measure if you want to get inception-to-date actual rates, target rates, or budgets. Use it with the Fiscal Period dimension to get the rates for a particular period.

Do not use filters in the All tabs and This tab sections on top of the dashboard. Use the pre-defined filters when you create your reports or dashboard and pull them in your objects in the center.

The is a relational framework model that can be used for more complex reports. It contains the structures of the key project reporting tables in Costpoint. While the structure is based on the Deltek standard Costpoint model, it is streamlined to use those fields most commonly used in report writing.

The is found in the Projects and Planning areas in Team Content as well. In Projects, go to Team content» Projects» Packages» Project Reporting In Planning, go to Team content» Planning» Packages» Project Planning Reporting

To see an example, open the Project Reporting package. Click New» Report.

Select a report template and then click OK.

Click the Add report data icon.

Select Team Content» Projects.

The different parts of this package are designed to make it easy for you to create reports especially those that appear as lists. This is a Namespace. These are query subjects which are basic building blocks that are sets of query items that have an inherent relationship. These are Namespaces. A namespace is a container which uniquely identifies an object in the model. This is a sample Folder. Filters - The filters in this folder are expressions that specify the conditions that rows or instances must meet to be retrieved for the corresponding leveling calculation to which the filter is applied.

Reports and Dashboards are also provided in CER to help you start your report and/or dashboard creation. You can use these as templates and tailor them based on your business needs.

The Standard CER Reports are highly formatted with complex prompting, while Template Reports are created to be modified while still conveying the basic concepts of report writing. The Template Reports are found in the Planning and Projects areas. In Projects, go to Team content» Projects» Reports and use the following Template Reports: PSR Template PSR Trending Analysis Revenue Summary Report Template In Planning, go to Team content» Planning» Reports and use the following Template Reports: BnP PSR Trending Analysis Planning Revenue Summary Report Template PSR Report Template

Template Dashboards leverage the new Dashboard module in CER, which allows end users to create and share interactive analytical dashboards. Our template dashboards are created against the dimensional analysis models which are conducive to easily creating dashboards. The Template Dashboards are found in the Planning and Projects areas.
