5 FDOT Enterprise Portal Strategy Provide One Stop Shopping for Department information Provide a high-level perspective of Department information, integrated across business areas and related data Provide intuitive design and navigation that minimizes need for extensive application expertise & passwords, extensive technical knowledge, or in-depth understanding of the FDOT org structure Provide a way to integrate available technologies (database queries, text files, GIS, EDMS, videologs, etc) Provide consistent results to queries...by leveraging the Department s enterprise data and technical infrastructure via an Enterprise Information Portal, an intuitive Decision Support System can be provided that will transform abundant FDOT data into useful information.

6 GIS as a tool within the Portal Enterprise GIS View Extend the portal concept through the use of GIS technology: Provide a graphical representation of Department information integrated across business areas. Provide intuitive navigation and terms that minimize the need for extensive GIS knowledge, application expertise, and password authorization. Provide the ability to switch between textual and graphical representations through integration such as: queries, videologs, images, portal information assets, and enterprise applications.
