1 ROLE PROFILE ROLE TITLE: Solutions Architect - Technology DEPARTMENT: Technology ROLE REPORTS TO: Technology Manger REPORTING TO THIS ROLE: Works with: Staff Liaises with Internal: Liaises with External: Solutions Engineer - Technology, Systems Administrator, Web Support Analyst, Broadcast Engineers, Operational All Staff Vendors, External Support PURPOSE AND PRIMARY GOALS OF ROLE: Responsible for Network Infrastructure Responsible for Physical and Virtual Server and Storage Infrastructure Responsible for all Microsoft and Linux Servers and associated Services Responsible for Data and Network Security Active member in all Technology wide Projects Provide Senior Training/Mentoring/Coaching to IT/Engineering staff

2 Key Result Areas (KRAs) Critical Tasks (CTs) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Competencies Ensure Network infrastructure is planned for and maintained based on Early involvement in discussion regarding any changes to Network infrastructure Maintain Network documentation Provide evaluation and guidance on Network infrastructure requirements for Broadcast and Production Objectives are clearly defined, agreed and documented Stakeholders are consulted and kept up to date Business Case in place for the proposed Project Min 10-years experience in designing, building and maintaining enterprise network infrastructure Up to date with current trends and changes in the Industry Current Cisco CCNA qualification Server and Storage infrastructure is planned and maintained based on Administration and maintenance of existing infrastructure Planning in place for future requirements Consultation within business to plan for needs Infrastructure is up 99.99% Negative Impacts from planned maintenance is mitigated Monitoring systems in place Systems Administrators are capable of operating and monitoring infrastructure Min 10-years experience with the provisioning of physical and virtual server infrastructure including VMWare Strong experience in the design, installation and management of Storage systems Current VMWare Data Center Virtualization qualification Microsoft and Linux Servers and Services Administration and Maintenance of existing servers Planning in place for future requirements Consultation within business to plan for needs Servers are up 99.99% Negative Impacts from planned maintenance is mitigated Servers are up-to-date Min 10-years experience with Microsoft and Linux-based Servers Strong experience with Microsoft directory, file and services Current Microsoft qualification Data and Network Security Ensure that the network and systems are secure in line with Suitable security measures are in place External IT audit risk is acceptable Strong experience in network security best practices and implementation

3 Ensure data is protected through appropriate backup and archive procedures Provision suitable, Antispyware, Malware, Antivirus and other such applications on MTS desktops and mobile devices etc Ensure secure internet connectivity with web/ filtering, firewalls and certificates Backup and Archive Systems in place Strong experience in data security best practices and implementation Identify, Manage and implement new Technology Projects in consultation with the Technology Manager Project objectives and timelines are clearly defined Stakeholders are kept aware via tracking reports highlighting any Problems and Timeline changes UAT agreed with supplier/vendor All change affecting normal operations is managed and negative consequences are mitigated Regular update meetings with Vendors and Stakeholders are held Technology Manager is across any critical areas of the Project Engineering and IT are up to date as required Any change affecting normal operations is planned and agreed with all affected Good understanding of broadcast Operational procedures. Understanding of critical live to air consequences and effects. Project handover Project Operational handover clearly defined Where operational training is required, this is planned for within the Project Any third party support is documented Documentation and Manuals, are all part of the Project Handover Third party support process and scope documented Outages are planned and notified with/to Staff Competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and power point Excellent written and spoken communication skills Experienced training skills

4 Senior Operational Training and Mentoring Engineering Support Provide Senior training support and mentoring to Engineering and Operational staff where applicable Procedural documentation maintained Provide support to Engineering as applicable Training is planned and documented Mentoring of staff is applied where possible Engineering are able to access support Thorough understanding of operational craft areas. Ability to communicate with operational staff of all levels. Experienced coach/mentor Broad technical and operational knowledge of MTS facility Human Resources Provide support to the Technology Manager in relation to recruitment and job specification for IT related roles Comply with all Organisational policies and procedures Role profiles for new role are completed Participation in IT role Interviews as required Participation in IT performance reviews as required Communication skills Interview skills People Management skills
