EXTENDED Branch Office Server Promotion Starting July 1, 2006, Microsoft is introducing a new worldwide Branch Office Server Promotion. Bundle includes Windows Server Std, ISA Server, System Center Std SML (includes SMS CML, MOM Std OML, DPM DPML), and Virtual Server Std. Total price represents approx. 10% discount over individual product prices. SMS&P Promotion 15% off Visual Studio + MSDN Beginning in Q2, we are launching a 6-month promotion targeting the SMS&P market. Small and medium business customers especially previous purchasers of License-only SKUs are ideal candidates to move up to VSPro+MSDN in Open pricing. Microsoft Server Client Access Licenses (CALs) Promotion for Mid-sized Businesses This promotion is designed to offer midsize businesses a simple and cost effective way to purchase Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 Client Access Licenses (CALs) in one SKU. Acquire the Exchange Enterprise CAL for SA price only As of December 1, 2006 customers with Exchange Server Standard CAL SA will be eligible to purchase the new Exchange Server 2007 Enterprise CAL for the cost of SA only. This additive CAL allows you to take full advantage of Unified Messaging, Managed Folders, Premium Anti- Virus/Anti-Spam Services and User Journaling. Unified Communications RTC Promotion The objectives of this promotion are to pre-sell the benefits of Office Communication Server 2007 and to drive the benefits of web conferencing through Live Meeting. 3

4 Open Value Consolidation Promotion Microsoft is offering an up to 15% discount to customers who wish to consolidate their Software Assurance renewal from two or more Microsoft Open License agreements into a single Open Value Agreement. Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and Standard CAL 2007 Promotion This is a competitive promotion for only customers migrating from FileNET products to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007customers. VSTS Promotion Team Data / Suite 20% off VST-Suite L/SA new and step-up purchases (Qualification: new L/SA purchase or step-up from VST-D/T/A or MSDN U or E to Team Suite) OR 10% off VST-DBP L/SA with qualifying purchase of SQL Server (Qualification: L/SA purchase of SQL Server 2005) Exchange 2007 Enterprise Client Access Licences ( CALs ) Promotion Microsoft is offering an incentive for current Exchange customers with active Software Assurance (SA) to upgrade to both of the new Exchange 2007 Client Access Licenses (CALs): the Exchange 2007 Standard CAL and the Exchange 2007 Enterprise CAL. Customers with active Software Assurance agreements on their CALs will receive the Exchange Standard CAL that includes new features and improvements for Current Software Assurance customers can purchase the Exchange Enterprise CAL as an add-on. As part of the promotion the licensing fee for the Exchange 2007 Enterprise CAL add-on is waived. The customer pays the incremental SA fee for Exchange 2007 Enterprise CAL only. Forefront Security for Exchange Promotion Designed to target both new Forefront Security customers and customers renewing from expiring Sybari contracts, this promotion will provide a 30% discount off list price for new customers as they gradually migrate from Exchange 2003 onto 2007 as well as for expiring Sybari customers to renew under a Microsoft agreement. Managed SQL Promotion The Managed SQL promo is coming April 1, Customers purchasing new SQL Server 2005 licenses, either Standard Edition or Enterprise Edition, and on a Per Processor or Server/CAL basis, can also acquire a System Center Operations Manager 2007 Server License and Enterprise OML for just the price of the Enterprise OML, as part of a single promo SKU. In other words, the System Center Operations Manager 2007 Server license is free! 4

8 EXTENDED Branch Office Server Promotion Open Select License Enterprise Agreement Starting February 1st, Microsoft is introducing an extended worldwide Branch Office Infrastructure Enterprise Solution Promotion. The promotion is aimed at providing customers a cost-effective enterprise level solution when deploying Microsoft technologies in a large number of remote site branch offices. It is a prescriptive solution for branches that offers Microsoft s leading server, security, and management technologies in a single SKU. Details Available February 1, 2007 through January 31, 2008, the promotion offers an up to 43 percent discount off the list price for the combined purchase of: Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition Microsoft ISA Server 2006 Enterprise Edition Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 Enterprise Operations Management License (OML) Microsoft Systems Management Server 2003 R2 Server Configuration Management License (CML) Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 This offer will be available world-wide in Open, Select and EA Volume Licensing. The enterprise branch promotion is part of Microsoft s long-term strategy to help customers integrate server, security and management technologies for a more secure and well-managed infrastructure. Microsoft launched a branch office promotion during Worldwide Partner Conference in July 2006, called the Windows Server Branch Infrastructure Promotion. This promotion has received a positive response; however, customers are asking for a cost effective, enterprise level solution when dealing with a large number of remote site branch offices. Therefore, Microsoft is responding to customer and partner feedback for an enterprise focused promotion. While the existing branch promotion will continue through June 30, 2007, Microsoft is launching a second promotion targeted at the enterprises. 8

9 This promotion will allow for 1. Improved administration of Microsoft ISA Server 2006 by including enterprise version of this product that allows for multi site management 2. Improved management of the remote infrastructure through inclusion of full version MOM and SMS CALs 3. A cost effective solution when the deployment involved a large number of branches As an additional benefit to any customer that purchases this Microsoft promotional bundle, Packateer is offering a 30% discount on its ishared FlexInstall Wide Area File Services (WAFS) software product. This offer will be available via CD or download for a period of 6 months from 1 Feb 2007 to 30 June Packateer is one of Microsoft s key partners in the Branch Office. ishared FlexInstall is a WAFS software application that easily installs on to any Windows Server 2003 platform, leveraging an existing Microsoft infrastructure and integrating easily with other Microsoft branch office solutions. Target Customer Scenarios This Branch Infrastructure Enterprise Solution Promotion aims at helping customers achieve the following goals: Simplify process of purchasing a complete Branch Infrastructure solution based on MS technology Provide partners with a single branch office SKU mirroring Microsoft popular BOIS v.2 (branch office architecture guidance) guidance Provide customers with an affordable option to purchase and deploy branch infrastructure solution in the new branches IDC reports that customers running the latest Microsoft branch infrastructure technologies save up to $84,000 per branch per year with a payback period of just over 5 months. Additionally, new IDC research indicates Windows Server 2003 R2 delivers a 274% ROI. There are approximately 6M branches with servers world wide that could take advantage of this solution clustered primarily in the financial, retail, hospitality, healthcare, manufacturing and government verticals. Partner Opportunity This promotion offers an excellent opportunity for partners, as it gives solution providers, integrators, and VARs the means to meet a critical customer need with a cost-effective, all-inone solution. This builds on Microsoft s ongoing work with partners to deliver branch IT solutions for customers, providing a single branch office SKU that mirrors Microsoft s popular Branch Office Infrastructure Solution (BOIS) implementation guidance. Microsoft is providing a range of services and information to help solution integrator and VAR partners meet their branch customers needs, including: The Branch Office Infrastructure Solution (BOIS) guide, which presents design information to facilitate the definition and deployment of the SKU products, providing a comprehensive set of core IT infrastructure services based on Windows Server 2003 R2. 9

11 SMSP Promotion 15% off Visual Studio Pro + MSDN Open License Beginning in 2Q, we are launching a 6-month promotion targeting the SMS&P market. Small and medium business customers especially previous purchasers of License-only SKUs are ideal candidates to move up to VSPro+MSDN in Open pricing. In addition, a large number of customers have yet to migrate from VS2002 and VS2003. These customers also represent opportunities to deliver the value proposition of moving forward with Microsoft Developer Tools by adding MSDN subscriptions. Details When: 1 October 2006 March 30, 2007 Pricing Levels: Open levels. Qualifier: customer should be a previous or existing VS.NET or VS 2005 customer. Promotional SKUs can be added to new or existing Open level agreements only. Promotion is not open to Enterprise Subscription customers. Promotional SKUs will be available on Open pricelists October 1 and on OLV and MYO pricelists November 1. Discount was calculated not to overstep Select License D pricing so as to avoid customers wanting to step down from Select License agreements to Open. Call to Action Use this promotion to drive L-only VSPro customers up to L+SA (VSPro + MSDN Pro or Premium) SKUs. The promotion helps midsized businesses make it more affordable for all the users in the organisation to realise the benefits of upgrading their core infrastructure by reducing the purchase price for Windows Server and Exchange Server CALs (up to 20% off Open License), simplifying the purchase of Windows Server and Exchange Server CALs by creating one SKU, and helping their organisations to get their users compliant with licensing. 15 Open Value Consolidation Promotion Open Value Open Value Company Wide Open Value Subscription Microsoft is offering an up to 15% discount to customers who wish to consolidate their Software Assurance renewal from two or more Microsoft Open License agreements into a single Open Value Agreement. There are a number of reasons consolidation of Software Assurance renewals through Open Value is a smart move for corporations that have up to 250 desktops *. Not only will customers receive the ongoing benefits of Software Assurance, which provides rights to the most current software version, it also ensures practical alternative to buying licenses as customers need them and can help customers to gain control of their software budget. Details Benefits of Consolidation Easier tracking consolidation through Open Value will provide a single Software Assurance expiration date Reduced upfront costs spread your renewal payment over the course of the threeyear Open Value agreement term Up to 15% discount qualifying customers will receive 15%* of their renewal back from Microsoft Access to more Software Assurance benefits Microsoft Office licenses for home use, server support, technical training, and other support benefits Rebate Eligibility Customers who meet the following requirements are eligible for the Open License Consolidation Discount up to 15%: Must have two or more active Open Business Authorisations with Software Assurance coverage (or Open Value agreements). Must sign an Open Value agreement with Microsoft and renew Software Assurance coverage from at least one Open Business agreement. The expiry date of the 1st Open business Authorisation with Software Assurance or Open Value agreements must fall between September 15, 2006 and June 30, * Customers above 250 can also consolidate into Open Value however this customer should consider consolidating into Enterprise Agreement. 15

16 Customer Scenario 1 Existing License Agreement Info: Three Open License Authorisations with existing Software Assurance coverage, expiration dates are as follows: November 2006, March 2007, May Customer would like to: 1. Consolidate all of their Software Assurance coverage into a single agreement. 2. Place a single renewal order for all of their outstanding Software Assurance. 3. Track a single expiration date for Software Assurance coverage moving forward. Solution: With Microsoft Open Value, this customer can renew all of their Software Assurance coverage under a single agreement, and they can annualise their Software Assurance renewal payment across the three-year term of their agreement. In addition to being able to annualise their renewal payment, this customer is eligible for the Open Value Consolidation Discount, which will give them up to 15% off the value of their Software Assurance renewal. Details: Three-year Software Assurance renewal amount of all 3 Open License Authorisation looks like the following: 1st Agreement Renewal amount: USD 2nd Agreement Renewal amount USD (minus 4 month loss on SA = 11.1% discount) = USD 3rd Agreement Renewal amount USD (minus 6 month loss on SA = 15% discount) = USD. 17 Go to Open Value Company-Wide: If the customer wants to go to Open Value Company Wide then they additionally accrue 10% CW discount: USD (10% CW discount = USD) = USD Purchasing additional products: If the customer wants to purchase additional products worth of USD then he/she can also apply the 15% consolidation discount (whichever is greater from the above example). So instead of USD USD = USD the customer only has to pay USD USD = USD (~ 15% discount) in 3 annual installments (~ USD annually). FAQ Q: Why would a customer want to consolidate their Open Business Software Assurance into Open License Value? A: Open Value gives customers the opportunity to simplify their software asset management by renewing into a license program that offers a single contract structure and a single Software Assurance expiration date. Software Assurance renewal through Open Value also provides the customer with the option to spread their payment across the three-year term of their agreement. Q: Why would a customer want to renew their Software Assurance prior to its natural expiration? A: Early renewal provides customers with the ability to place a single Software Assurance renewal order for all of their outstanding Open agreements with Software Assurance. In addition, the 15% discount provides customers with additional savings to justify renewing early and consolidating. Q: Why would a customer consider renewal through Open Value instead of Open Business? A: Open Value offers customers three years of coverage instead of two, provides the option to spread payments across the term of the contract, and gives customers access to additional Software Assurance benefits not available through the Open Business program. Q: Who is eligible for the Open Consolidation discount? A: A customer who has two or more existing Open Business Authorisations with Software Assurance, and signs an Open Value agreement that contains a Software Assurance renewal order. In addition, this customer must also be renewing Software Assurance coverage from the 1 st expiring Open Authorisation or Open Value agreement. 17

18 Q: Can a customer take advantage of the Open Consolidation discount offer if their Software Assurance coverage has already expired? A: Yes as long as the customer submits to their reseller a renewal order for Software Assurance for all copies of all products for which they (are eligible and) wish to renew coverage within 90 days after the expiration date (per the Product List). Q: Are purchases made through the Open Value Company-wide option eligible for this discount? A: Yes if customer decides to choose Open Value Company-wide the customer can also take advantage of the up to 15% consolidation discount. Q: Can a customer place a renewal order through an existing Open Value agreement and still be eligible for the discount? A: Yes the customer is eligible for the consolidation discount in this case as well. Q: Can a customer purchase License & Software Assurance (L&SA) on the same order and/or the same agreement and still be eligible for the rebate? A: We encourage customers to leverage Open Value for their additional L&SA purchases so the consolidation discount can be applied to the additional L/SA SKUs as well. Q: Where can a customer go to find their existing Open Business Authorisation numbers? A: Customers can go to the Microsoft Volume Licensing Services (MVLS) Web site at Q: How should the up to 15% consolidation discount be positioned to customers? A: By renewing through Open Value, each month of Software Assurance is worth approximately 2.8% of the total agreement (i.e., one month of 36 months is 2.75%). If a customer renews Software Assurance six months early, they will receive close to a 15% rebate of their total agreement. Therefore, they won't decrease the value of their current licensing agreement by renewing early. Q: So, there is a minimum purchase amount of a three-year value to be eligible for the consolidation discount? A: No. Further Information 18

Customers can choose to purchase the Exchange Enterprise client access License (CAL) or the Exchange Standard CAL. The Exchange Enterprise CAL is sold as an add-on to the Exchange Standard CAL. Two server editions will continue to be offered: Exchange Server Enterprise Edition and Exchange Server Standard Edition. Either CAL can be run against either server edition. Q. What does a customer get with the Exchange Enterprise CAL vs. the Exchange Standard CAL? A.
