NextGen Optical Management s central feature is its ability to record orders quickly, associate billing information, and post charges to NextGen Practice Management. Order entry is effortless, with picklists and checkboxes all on one screen, mimicking the typical paper form. Order dispensing also is documented, resulting in a full, paperless record of sale that can be tracked, searched, and reported. NextGen Optical Management accepts orders for items either in stock or not; and special orders from labs or other vendors. NextGen Optical Management s product pricing function is robust and flexible. The system can perform pricing logic on a payer or nonpayer basis and calculate price based on what the payer guarantees. Other features include charge-specific discounting, based on charge code as well as discretionary price adjustments for various purchase scenarios, such as cash payments, senior citizen discounts, promotions, or minimum purchases. Reporting can be generated for inventory, orders, sales, staff productivity, and more. A typical report might be for orders filled but not dispensed, or for type of sales by location.
