3 Federation of Window Cleaners Owned by and run solely for the benefit of its members. Established in 1947 to support the needs of window cleaners in the UK. Maintaining and improving the window cleaning industry whilst representing our members. 70 years experience in making industry decisions Running training courses in various locations around the country.

4 Aims of the Federation of Window Cleaners is to support its member businesses in finding advice on managing their general health & safety risks There a need for robust risk assessments and safe systems of work in the removal of all risks from window cleaning activities There a need for an industry specific Safety procurement scheme

5 SAFETY ACCREDITED MEMBER There are currently 100 s of facilities management companies, over 140 Local Authorities, and many large national companies who require a company to be registered by a Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme before they can use their services. Accredited Members of such a scheme generally benefit by being considered for proposed tender by Government bodies and other major organisations Quite simply more organisations will work with you. Preparing all the necessary information to become a registered accredited contractor can be an extremely tedious and lengthy process.

6 WHY A FWC SCHEME? This is an industry specific standard - with the FWC and (governing body) working closely with the HSE we believe we are best placed to deliver such accreditation. Although we are aware of other accreditation schemes on the market, window cleaners do sometimes find them confusing and generic to the cleaning industry as a whole. This is the only bespoke standard that needs to be driven for our industry - more importantly it is training based rather than just paper trail based.
