2 About Us Over the past 20 years, Bretby Gammatech has pioneered coal ash content monitoring technology. Our business was established in 1994 by technical experts from British Coal, who set up Bretby Gammatech and developed an early prototype; the Ash Probe. Since then the Ash Probe has become renowned internationally for its ease of use and accuracy, saving hundreds of mines and coal processing plants money every day. In many cases, the investment in the technology can pay for itself in just one month! A number of different products have been developed over the years including the Lab Ash, Ash Eye, Heat Eye and Gamma Eye. In recent years, the product range has been updated and is now available with interactive digital displays that feature touch screen technology. This has made the equipment easy to use with the ability to utilise languages other than English. In 2012, Bretby Gammatech was acquired by the President Engineering Group Ltd (PEGL), a worldwide group that manufactures valve technology for a wide range of different energy markets from mining to marine. Since then, PEGL has invested in systems and technologies to further enhance services to customers across the world. Building on the knowledge of existing Bretby Gammatech personnel, the technical team has been further expanded to better address existing customer requirements and also address the customers increased need to save money throughout. Bretby Gammatech have continued to deliver excellent customer care.

3 Products Ash Probe The Ash Probe is a portable instrument for measuring the ash content of coal, providing the user with highly accurate readings within seconds. Instantaneous readings can be made of coal quality on stock piles, trains or trucks, allowing customers to check the quality of incoming coal supplies and specifications against their suppliers claims. As well as the standard keypad version of control box we offer a full colour high resolution touch screen model with multi language support and other additional features such as a battery life that can last one full working day on a single charge. Furthermore, any data collected can be written to a USB storage device and used for offline analysis and can be uploaded to a PC using the supplied software and cable (Window XP/7/8/8.1 compatible). The Ash Probe touchscreen is also a lighter weight unit which is practical as it reduces manual handling issues for repetitive operations in the field. Lab Ash The Lab Ash is a laboratory instrument providing a quick measurement of the ash content of a crushed sample of coal. It is easy to use and provides accurate results within a few minutes. It is widely used by small private mines which cannot access laboratory testing facilities easily, but still need to have the Ash information quickly to make decisions at the plant. As well as the standard keypad version of control box we offer a full colour high resolution touch screen model with multi language support and other additional features such as a battery life that can last one full working day on a single charge. Ash Eye The Ash Eye is a coal quality monitoring system that attaches to conveyor belts to monitor the coal as it is moved from the mine to the stockpile or conveyor transportation, providing real time results of coal quality to the customer. The control unit (Local Area Processor) will also feature a touchscreen as the latest model along with the EyeGraffix interface software for remote monitoring which includes alert features. Heat Eye The Heat Eye is a fully on-line instrument providing second-by-second measurement of the Ash, Moisture and Nett Calorific Value (Nett CV) i.e. the energy content of conveyed coal. It produces this in real-time rather than by the traditional method of laboratory analysis. This measurement is vital for decision making. The latest model of the control unit (Local Area Processor) will also feature a touchscreen along with the EyeGraffix software for remote monitoring which includes alert features. Belt weighing and tramp metal detection can also be supplied as part of a turn-key project. Gamma Eye We have developed two 'Gamma Eye' instruments for measuring the much larger bulk gamma emissions from, for example, material contaminated with NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) scales, soil contaminated with fission products. The system has been designed to detect when a container of material has been placed on top of the frame. It is envisaged that the container will be a bucket of a mechanical digger, but any metal container placed on the frame will trigger the proximity detector. Once the presence of a bucket has been detected, the counting cycle automatically starts. On completion of the counting cycle, either the green, amber or red light is illuminated to indicate the action required when disposing of the material in the bucket or container.
