5 Capability Information 2.1 Main Business Activities and Industries Served Ozcon Industries Pty Ltd currently operates four sites based in Dalby, in the heart of the Surat Basin, one distribution centre in Caboolture and manages a site for a customer in Miles. The business offers a comprehensive supply of pipe and fittings with highly qualified processing, machine shop and general metal engineering services. As the business has expanded, our services also cover site work, fabrication, installation, logistics and inspection services Products and Services Supplied Supply of OCTG and line pipe. Supply of pipe fittings. Supply of seamless and ERW pipe. Proprietary threaded casing ranging from 2 3/8 to 28 diameter casing. OCTG threaded casing machined to API specification 5CT requirements. Casing accessories such as drive subs, crossovers etc. Perforated casing. Slotted casing. Pipe spooling and fabrication. Engineer certified pipe storage systems (casing racks). General machining and engineering services. Onsite fabrication and construction. Warehouse management specifically casing and pipe related. Inspection and QC services. 3

6 2.1.2 Proprietary Products/Inventions/Processes Ozcon Industries has an active Research and Development department designing solutions for long-term and new industry problems. Ozcon Industries has in the past designed and developed the following: The Perforator the only machine of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. This machine drills up to 60 holes per cycle and can perforate a pipe with 2400 holes in 48 minutes. The Slotter the only machine of its type in the Southern Hemisphere used for slotting lengths in pipe. Many Ozcon Proprietary Threads used in coal seam gas, shale gas, underground coal gasification, underground mining ventilation and paste lines. A few of the threads designed for these industries are the Ozcon Flush Joint Series, HWBCF Series, MWBCF Series, LWBCF Series and Ozcon WT Series. Ozcon Industries is currently working on a new thread type which we are aiming to patent and release in 2014 as well as some other unique and innovative products for problems in the underground mining industry. All R&D products are externally certified and customers are supplied with these engineer reports if required Competitive Skills Ozcon Industries has the following competitive skills: Specialised welding and fabrication. Tried and proven casing and accessories. We are the largest supplier of locally threaded casing in Australia. We are the largest supplier of perforated and slotted casing in the Southern Hemisphere. Shorter lead times on most jobs than our competitors. Specialised Research and Development department ensuring that our products and processes remain innovative and are improved where possible. Have a Quality Management System certified to ISO9001:2008 standards. We have a close relationship with our clients to ensure that they receive the products that they require when they require them. We assist our clients in choosing the right product for their application to ensure that we are minimising rig downtime. 4

7 2.1.4 Certifications Held Ozcon Industries has a Quality Management System certified to ISO9001:2008. Ozcon Industries has also been assessed by the Industry Capability Network as being a Tier 2 Company for supply to major projects. Tier 2 Company Firms in the group receive their opportunities directly from the Engineering, Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM -Tier 1). Typically firms in this group are suppliers of major areas of work for example, engineering design, civil construction. Tier 2 companies have Systems (safety, environmental, risk and employee management) that are in place with the Tier 1 firm. These companies have the financial capability, technology and expertise required by the major contractor. 8 2.1.5 Export Capabilities Ozcon Industries has previously exported casing and accessories to New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Chile and Ethiopia. Two of the companies we supplied to were Australian companies and two were overseas companies. Ozcon Industries has proved to be a reliable supplier for these goods ensuring that we have delivered on time and in good condition Software Used (Engineering/Drafting/Other) Ozcon Industries currently uses a remote desktop to ensure that our staff members are able to access information wherever they are as long as they have internet connection. We are currently making a transition to Pronto for our ERP system and we currently use Solidworks for our in-house designing. We work with clients to deliver invoices and statements to them to suit their systems either by ing them invoices in PDF format or uploading directly to their supply centre software (e.g. Quadrem). 2.2 Equipment Ozcon Industries has a large amount of equipment, the major items being: Custom built specialised pipe perforating and slotting machines. 8 CNC lathes capable of threading from the smallest diameter tubing to 28 diameter. Manual lathes and centre lathes. Milling machines. Various specialist welding equipment including 8 x pulse welding machines. 2 x 16 tonne forklifts. 2 x Pettibone lift and carry. Various bandsaws including 2 X CNC saws with capacity to cut 28 diameter and 20m + in length. A large range of gauging equipment required to gauge threads and a calibration unit required to calibrate those gauges to various specifications including but not limited to API specifications. Various vehicles trucks, utes, sedans, wagons. Various items of office equipment server, computers, laptops, furniture. Various other tooling required e.g. air compressors, hand tools, pallet jacks etc. 6

9 Capacity Capacity Levels Ozcon Industries has a very direct focus on growth and regularly meets growth targets, often exceeding them. With the constant growth comes the need to increase capacity. To date, Ozcon Industries has doubled its capacity almost every year of operation since In the event that Ozcon Industries cannot handle the scale of a project in-house or cannot justify the outlay to equip for it, we have many informal agreements in place whereby we can utilise a third party. Ozcon Industries is currently pursuing several joint venture options which will allow for significant capacity gains and diversification. We have recently received approval from Western Downs Regional Council to develop our 28 acre site which will allow us to grow significantly and remove any future bottle necks with council approvals. Our current business model shows the potential to employ up to 300 personnel - this represents 5 years of maintaining growth at 38% which is well below the average from the past 6 years. Currently we employ approximately 120 staff members most of which are local and full-time. 10 The previous numbers include management required to manage these departments and we currently have 20 people involved in our management team. Ozcon Industries has a strong focus on training and has developed many innovative processes to ensure that new staff can be easily trained to perform the work required of them. Ozcon Industries has in the past employed staff that have had no prior knowledge of the industry or our products and has successfully trained them Preferred Maximum Value of Work per Job Ozcon Industries does not have a preferred maximum value of work. We are quite happy to take on small jobs or large jobs and will confirm capacity availability at time of quotation Area of Operation or Supply Ozcon Industries currently supplies predominantly to the Surat and Bowen basins, however, is supplying increasing quantities to foreign entities that are using these products in overseas operations and throughout Australia. 8

11 Track Record 3.1 Leading Projects Completed and Major Clients Ozcon Industries has in the past undertaken large fabrication projects for companies such as Linc Energy and Carbon Energy. For the Linc Energy projects (2 in total), we were required to fabricate spooling and other supporting assemblies to provided drawings. On the first project undertaken, Ozcon Industries played a large role in assisting with the development of the project and took a project management role in coordinating design and drafting and worked very closely with Linc Energy s engineers and sub-contractors. We had welding procedures designed with welders qualified to those procedures and sent a defined percentage of completed works off to be NDT tested to ensure quality was maintained. At the end of the projects, a MDR was provided to Linc Energy detailing all relevant details including welding procedures, welding consumables, welder qualifications, NDT results and heat numbers on all spooling and associated valves and gaskets. We provided similar documentation for works prepared for Carbon Energy with their 3 projects. 12 Management Systems 4.1 Safety Management System Ozcon Industries is committed to providing our staff, customers and stakeholders with the highest workplace health and safety principals, procedures and ultimately results. Safety is our first and most important key strategic goal for upcoming financial year. The development of the Ozcommit system is being rolled out throughout the business and will reach its full implementation early in 2014 which will include staff identification, full authorisation and training system, company-wide guidelines to working safely at Ozcon Industries and a variety of site based improvements and capital investment. Throughout the implementation, the business is also striving to achieve full ISO certification for Workplace Health and Safety by December Our incident and accident rates are declining and our overall total injury frequency is decreasing at an impressive rate, with the goal of zero lost time injuries within this financial year. Hazard reporting and risk analysis activities are regularly conducted across the business with a real continual improvement focus on all issues raised within the system. Our business has an open and progressive relationship with the Department of Workplace and Health Safety, and our participation within the Medium Business Safety Initiative in 2010, showcase our commitment to safety achieving a total score of 161 out of a possible 162 with no recorded notice issued. 4.2 Environment Management System Environmental management is a vital aspect to our commercial compliance and our duty of care within our local community. In line with our safety objectives, Ozcon Industries is on the path for ISO compliance and certification within the environmental management systems by the end of December Our business has developed an environmental policy, spills and disposal guidelines and accident or incident reporting to ensure that we are following all environmental regulations and responsibilities. As part of our implementation of an environmental management system, Ozcon Industries has also registered with the Carbon Neutral organisation. We also have a number of recycling plans in place including but not limited to scrap metals, toner cartridges and cardboard. 10

13 4.3 Quality Management System Ozcon Industries Quality Management System is certified to ISO9001:2008. As part of this Quality Management System, Ozcon Industries has the following (evidence of which can be supplied if required): A Quality Policy. A documented Quality Management System certified by SAI Global. A senior manager responsible for quality management namely Rhiannon Chiverton, Business Development Manager. Procedures for assessing and approving the quality systems of suppliers and sub-contractors. Documented procedures for: Sales Ordering Purchasing Supplier Selection Goods Receipt Product Storage Design and Development Production & Service Operations Control of Non-Conforming Product Control of Monitoring & Measuring Devices Product Shipment Bills Receipt Bills Payment Handling Customer Feedback (Including Complaints) Product Review Corrective & Preventative Actions Invoicing Internal Auditing Control of Documents Control of Records Ozcon Industries is currently also working towards American Petroleum Institute Specification 5CT certification (Specification for casing and tubing which will also include API Specification 5B Specification for threading, gauging and thread inspection of casing, tubing and line pipe threads) which will certify our OCTG threaded products to API standards. 4.4 Insurances Ozcon holds insurances for the following: Professional Indemnity Insurance Public Liability Insurance WorkCover Building and Contents Insurance Motor Vehicle Insurance Details of current policies can be provided, if required. 11

14 4.5 Risk Management Approach While our ISO 9001:2008 certified Quality Management System does include risk management sufficient for local state and federal regulations, we have a greater focus on managing risk. Firstly, we manage the risk of internal failures by conducting regular audits across many levels including Workplace Health and Safety, production, financial control and quality. We have also dedicated a large percentage of our resources to diversifying in a successfully removing the threat of industry specific client grouping. We identified that we were at a high risk and decided proactively to explore other options within a broad range of industries. We were able to move from 100% of our revenue coming from one field in 2007 to splitting our core business into three equally profitable areas in We are looking to formalise our risk management system and have it certified by a third party in Other Work Management Systems Ozcon Industries has a comprehensive workflow management system. Our Quality Management System is ISO 9001:2008 certified and is all encompassing. Each item, component or piece of raw material is tracked from the manufacturer through to the end user. Our system allows for 100% accountability and records every process at every step from start to finish. Our order tracking system is a component of this workflow management system and gives immediate response to any client query as well as daily traceability after the fact. 12

15 4.6 Customer Service and Market Response Relationships and Communication Ozcon Industries sales team maintains regular communication with our clients to ensure that they are kept up to date with any changes or delays to their product supply. It is this good communication that has seen us have long-term working relationships with some of the largest energy companies operating in Australia. We also contact clients in advance of when we think they may need goods to ensure that there is no issue with supply when they need to order their goods. Ozcon Industries regularly requests feedback from our clients (at a minimum of annually) to ensure we are maintaining the high-level of customer service that we are aiming for and to identify any opportunities for improvement that may have arisen Responsiveness Responding to client requests promptly and efficiently is very important to all at Ozcon Industries and our staff endeavours to do this wherever possible. The Ozcon Industries sales team aims to have quotations sent to clients within 48 hours of quotation request, or by the close of business on the next working day if requests are sent on the weekend or on public holidays. Our Sales Manager is available for calls 24 hours per day to assist with any issues that may arise for a client on site. Customer complaints are dealt with as soon as possible and have the highest priority until the issue is resolved. We also take the findings and solutions after a customer complaint and apply these to our planning and production systems to prevent re-occurrence Continuous Improvement and Innovation Ozcon Industries has a keen focus on improvement and innovation which is evident in the fact that we have a full-time Research and Development department. Our Research and Development department not only designs and develops new products for the industry but also works on improving our own in-house processes. Continual improvement principals are also promoted within Ozcon Industries as we see this as being a critical component of remaining one step ahead of our competition. We undertake regular reviews of our systems to identify any potential opportunity improvements and maintain a Corrective and Preventative Actions database in which we record these findings. 13
