1 Quantum Architecture FAQs

2 1. Are SPM and SEAM inter-operable (are the connected?) How and Where? Yes you can access SEAM from SPM. For example you can access all questions associated with a process directly from the L level in SPM. 2. When will it be released? The planned Roll-out is as follows: SYSPRO QA Office release October (Alpha) SYSPRO QA Community Release - November (Alpha) SYSPRO QA Rel Can Q (Beta) Official Release of Phase 1 with SYSPRO 7 3. What are we going to call it? Will SPM become QA? Will it replace STARS? QA will replace SPM, SEAM and STARS. All other names will be dropped in the interests of having a single umbrella term for our Solution Architecting approach 4. Are we going to force adoption? Is it compulsory? We would like to force adoption, but this is still open for debate. In Africa, where SPM has been mandatory for the last year, we have collected over R2mill in sales revenue. 5. If we have already had resistance to SPM, how are we going to get adoption of QA? Not sure, but we would like the SYSPRO Office to enforce adoption. 6. Where do the databases reside? Ideally we would like them to reside on the customer server, but the reality is that they will probably reside on the main architects machine. Alternatively we could try to enforce the customer server option and provide easy access from any device (long term mobile). In future we will investigate a Cloud storage area. 7. Does SEAM replace my normal JAD session? You will still conduct a JAD session, but with engagements being prompted by SEAM questions. The SEAM application has been developed in such a way that the SYSPRO Office/Reseller can add their own set of questions to the SEAM database. 2

3 8. How big is the database of questions around SEAM? Can people add their own best practise questions? Who created these? Corporate Services have employed the services of 3 independent consultants, with years of SYSPRO experience to create the database of questions. The current database contains questions around all SYSPRO setup options. These were developed by one of the independent consultants and have been vetted by consultants from all SYSPRO Offices. There are a handful of Business Questions, but these are in the process of being developed by another independent consultant. As mentioned above the SEAM application has been developed in such a way that the SYSPRO Office/Reseller can add their own set of questions to the SEAM database 9. What is the development effort and who is doing this? As QA is a standard SYSPRO module it is developed to SYSPRO standards, using SYSPRO Business Objects and the SYSPRO Installation. Corporate Services have employed the services of 2 external development companies (Inobits and Soutce-IT) and an additional 3 independent consultants. Installation this is a joint effort between Inobits and SYSPRO development Business Objects the setup option business objects are all being developed by Source-IT and tested by one of our independent consultants. Product the entire SEAM application has been developed by Inobits and tested by an independent consultant; the SPM application has been developed by SYSPRO Education department with some links developed by an independent consultant. Topic Library the content for the topic library has all been developed by external consultants. The IMPIMP program to import Master data is a standard SYSPRO programs. The majority of the Business Objects used by IMPIMP exist or are already in the process of being developed by SYSPRO programmers. Additional Business objects will be written for a later phase of QA. The stub program to import SYSPRO setup options will be written by SYSPRO programmers and tested by an independent consultant. 10. Worldwide committee giving input There are weekly meetings with representatives from 2 of the SYSPRO offices on the development of QA. This has been invaluable to ensure we are delivering a tool that can be used by all offices. The other 3 offices have been shown QA and given initial input. All offices will be given a copy of QA to play with by the end week 2 October (12 th October). 11. What literature is there? There is an area on the Sales Zone dedicated to Quantum Architecture. Literature currently available includes:- A video A Brochure An Infographic A Blog 3
