III.C. Emsson reductons b electrc and hbrd vehcles Technolog/measure 1. Ths methodolog s for project actvtes categor comprses ntroducng new electrc and/or hbrd 1 vehcles that dsplace the use of fossl fuel vehcles n passenger and freght transportaton. 2. Project actvtes that nvolve a swtch from fossl fuels to use bofuels n transportaton applcatons are not covered under ths methodolog; those project actvtes shall consder usng another Tpe III methodologes (e.g. AMS-III.T, AMS-III.AK 2 ). 3. In cases where the project vehcles use a replaceable, chargeable batter there must be documented measures n place to ensure that vehcle owners have access to replacement batteres of comparable qualt. 4. The project desgn document shall explan the proposed approach for ntroducng/dstrbutng the electrc/hbrd vehcles, whch shall allow for trackng of the project vehcles. It shall also explan how the proposed project actvt wll: (a) (b) Demonstrate that the baselne vehcles beng dsplaced are those consumng fossl fuels. 3 Ths can be done, for example, through documentaton of the market share per fuel tpe per vehcle categor n the project regon (e.g. based on representatve sample surves or offcal data or peer revewed lterature); Ensure complance wth prevalng regulatons pertanng to batter use and dsposal. 5. The project desgn document shall nclude mnmum performance specfcatons for the batteres to be used such as: depth of dscharge, batter ccles, dstance travelled per charge, lfetme. 6. Emsson reductons ma be clamed b the manufacturers of electrc/hbrd vehcles, retalers, and/or owners of the vehcles, as long as t s ensured that double countng of emsson reductons wll not occur e.g., va a contractual agreement or unque dentfcaton of the vehcles. 7. Tpes of hbrd/electrc vehcles to be ntroduced nclude but are not lmted to cars, buses, trucks, jeepnes, commuter vans, taxs, motorccles and trccles Hbrd vehcles combne an nternal combuston engne and one or more electrc motors. Project partcpants shall demonstrate that the project and baselne vehcles are comparable, usng the followng means: (a) (b) Project and baselne vehcles belong to the same vehcle categor e.g. motorccle, bus, tax, truck, trccle; Project and baselne vehcles categores have comparable passenger/load capact and power ratng wth a of varaton not more than +/- 20 % comparng the average baselne vehcle wth the respectve project vehcle. 9. Measures are lmted to those that result n emsson reductons of less than or equal to 60 ktco 2 equvalent annuall. Addtonalt 10. For the specfc case of ths methodolog, addtonalt s demonstrated usng one of the optons below: Boundar Opton 1: Demonstrate that the project actvt would otherwse not be mplemented due to the exstence of one or more barrer(s) lsted n attachment A of Appendx B of 4/CMP.1 Annex II < The barrer(s) can be demonstrated for buers/users of the electrc vehcles even f the manufacturer or retaler of the electrc vehcles s mplementng the project. Opton 2: Demonstrate ex ante that the market share of project electrc/hbrd vehcles s equal to or smaller than 5% of the vehcles of the same categor (e.g. f project vehcles are electrc scooters, market share of electrc two wheelers s equal to or smaller than 5% of all motorzed two wheelers, rrespectve of the manufacturer) n the regon. 11. The project boundar ncludes the electrc and hbrd vehcles that are part of the project actvt and the electrct suppl source (e.g. a grd). Baselne 12. The baselne scenaro s the operaton of the comparable vehcles (the comparablt of baselne and project vehcles to be demonstrated as per ndcators n paragraph 8) that would have been used to provde the same transportaton servce. 13. The baselne emssons are the energ use per unt of servce for the baselne vehcle that would otherwse have been used tmes the average annual unts of servce per vehcle tmes the number of vehcles affected tmes the emsson coeffcent for the fuel used b the baselne vehcle that would otherwse have been used calculated as per the equaton below: 2/8

The specfc fuel consumpton for vehcle categor ( SFC ) shall be determned usng ether of the two followng optons: Opton (1): Sample measurement Measure the actual fuel consumpton rate of a representatve sample of vehcles, for each vehcle categor dentfed for hghwa drvng. Vehcle categores shall be determned conservatvel and be based on the fuel tpe used, the vehcle categor, engne model ear, power ratng, passengers/load capact auxlar equpment (e.g. wth and wthout ar condtoners) and other relevant factors to dstngush vehcles wth dfferent fuel consumpton rates. Sample vehcles shall be randoml chosen n accordance wth the latest verson of the General gudelnes for samplng and surves for small-scale CDM project actvtes usng a 90% confdence nterval and a +/- 10% error margn to determne the sample sze. The lower bound of 95% confdence nterval shall be used as the Specfc Fuel Consumpton. 3/8

Project emssons nclude the electrct and fossl fuel consumpton assocated wth the operaton of project vehcles and shall be calculated as follows: 15.For electrc vehcles, the emssons from the producton of electrct used wll consttute the project emssons. These wll be determned n accordance wth the relevant sectons of the AMS-I.D. 16.For hbrd vehcles that can run on fossl fuels and electrct, emssons from fossl fuel use shall be ncluded as project emssons n addton to the emssons from electrct use. Emssons from electrct generaton shall be taken nto account for electrc vehcles. 20. The quantt of fossl fuel used shall also be montored for hbrd vehcles as per the Tool to calculate project or leakage CO 2 emssons from fossl fuel combuston. The upper bound of 95% confdence nterval shall be used for the specfc fuel/electrct consumed.
