2 2 Enterprise Traders Dispatch Insight Genstar4 Enterprise is an end to end solution for participants in the electricity wholesale and retail markets covering asset scheduling, dispatch and management, balancing bidding, trade nominations to the Central Market and decision support. Genstar4 dispatches 28% of the UK generation fleet from thermal gas, oil and coal plant to renewable sources including wind, hydro and pumped storage. Genstar4 Traders supports the capture and creation of deals (forwards, futures etc) and the nomination of bilateral contract volumes (including net ECV groups) and meter volume reallocations to Elexon (ECVNAA and MVRNAA) together with full support for daily and forward contract reports and dispute management. The Position Monitor provides visual monitoring of notified position with that reported by the ECVAA. Genstar4 Dispatch fully supports asset scheduling and dispatch via EDT including unit availability calculation and adjustment, physical position notification, balancing bidding and operational data submission to National Grid. EDL supports the exchange of information in near real time with National Grid for changes to operational plant dynamics, BOA instructions and ancillary service instructions. Genstar4 Insight is a big data cloud service delivering powerful historical market data analysis (BMRA data) and decision support for balancing bidding. Data is collected through the high grade BMRA service and using big data analysis, intelligence displayed on price trends based on external factors such as geographical (location and weather) and other market drivers to facilitate bid price determination. 3 3 Genstar4 s suite of modules provides comprehensive support for: Trading and position analysis Contract notifications to the Central Market Power scheduling and operational management Balancing market bidding and market analysis Asset dispatch to the System Operator EDT and EDL Real time asset performance monitoring Settlements Contract management Reporting and administration Power Scheduler Power Scheduler manages availability and production scheduling and supports the associated data exchange requirements of the National Grid via EDT. Power Scheduler supports the following activities: Calculating maximum unit availability. Providing mandatory data to National Grid via EDT. Managing availability adjustment factors. Calculating the operating schedule. Notifying National Grid of intended physical position. Calculation and submission of ETR/Remit declarations. The maximum export limit (MEL) is forecast on a half hourly basis for up to 5 days ahead and takes into account outages, weather and ramp rates to create the profile. Power Scheduler also calculates or validates the unit operation schedule according to market rules. Power Scheduler EDT has successfully completed type testing against the new National Grid EBS system and will provide full support for the forthcoming EDT* upgrade which is part of the EBS* programme.

4 4 Energy Bidder Market participants with physical assets can offer to adjust their intended schedule by submitting priced bids of increased generation/decreased demand or decreased generation/ increased demand to National Grid to assist with balancing the network. Energy Bidder supports the bidding activity for each market gate closure. Energy Bidder supports: Compiling and submitting balancing bids. Validation of entered data according to market submission rules. Tracking the results of bidding. The variation in output or demand resulting from the accepted bid is reflected in the target level displayed in the Asset Monitor module, and this is fully accounted for when calculating payments in Settlements. Reports enable the user to assess the impact of accepted bids in terms of the prevailing market prices, and include: Unit imbalance report comparing the actual (metered) and target position. Portfolio imbalance report displaying total output volume, contracted volume and energy imbalance volume for each participant portfolio account against market prices. Market Data report showing the accepted bid volumes recorded for each period displayed alongside the market prices. Report of accepted bids with associated target volumes and delivery times.

5 5 EDL (Electronic Despatch and Logging) Electronic Dispatch and Logging (EDL) interfaces to National Grid for the exchange of information in near-to real-time as stipulated in the Grid Code. EDL supports the following activities: Sending changes in operational plant dynamic data to National Grid. Receiving Bid and Offer Acceptances (BOAs). Receiving Ancillary Service instructions from National Grid. EDL library submission sets for time-varying and non-time varying submissions. Maintaining logs of submissions, BOAs and ancillary instructions. Fully configurable alarms. Visual management of connection status with National Grid. Calculation and submission of ETR/Remit declarations. EDL supports fully flexible arrangements of BM Units into multiple control/desk configurations which may be designated as Active (controlling) or Passive (notifications only) and can be deployed either within the station LAN or across a corporate network e.g. an Energy Management Centre. EDL has successfully completed type testing against the new National Grid EBS system and will provide full support for the forthcoming EDL* upgrade which is part of the National Grid EBS* programme. Asset Monitor Monitoring performance in real-time is critical when deviations from an agreed schedule result in imbalance penalties being levied. Genstar4 provides a clear graphical representation of output or consumption against target schedule and contractual commitments, with warnings of imbalances. Asset Monitor supports the following activities: Monitoring generating unit performance in real time. Displays metered output versus physical position agreed with National Grid. Target level adjustments for instructed deviations e.g. accepted balancing market bids. Tolerance levels and deviation alarms. Assessing performance at the aggregated and portfolio level. Reporting on imbalances. Up to 70 concurrent BMUs can be displayed across multiple displays. Asset performance can also be monitored at the portfolio level showing the overall imbalance position. The realtime graph displays the volume contracted for each portfolio Account against the aggregated target and metered values, together with the imbalance position.

6 6 Trade Manager Trade Manager is an entry level deal capture system that supports the capture and confirmation of physical or hypothetical trades which can then be used to monitor the commercial position. Trade Manager provides support for: Multi market and commodity. Forwards and Futures trading. User defined trade products (e.g. peak/base, EFA). Trade portfolios. Automatic market notification. The real time position monitor gives clear visual support for short term trading decisions including impact of new trades on portfolio, net trade position, physical targets & scenario evaluation. Settlements Settlements manages the settlement of the payments and charges levied by the Settlements Administration Agent (SAA). Calculation of imbalance settlement starts from the checking of meter readings followed by calculation of settlement payments relating to imbalances incurred where contracted output differs from actual generation. Settlements supports: Validation of local meter data against meter data reports from the SAA. Validation of settlement reports received from the SAA. Estimated data and meter reading exceptions. Tolerances levels and breaches. Drill down investigation of differences. Dispute reporting and management. Invoice and check report validation. Transaction Notifier Transaction Notifier manages the mandatory requirements for supplying bilateral contract volumes and meter volume reallocations to the central market Energy Contract Volume Aggregation Agent (ECVAA). Transaction Notifier supports: Compilation of Energy Contract Volume Notification Agent Authorisations (ECVNAAs) and their submission to the central market agent. Compilation of Metered Volume Reallocation Notification Agent Authorisations (MVRNAAs) and their submission to the central market agent. Automatic upload of the ECVNAA-Key or MVRNAA-Key and support for key-change requests. Maintenance of Contract Groups for net ECV notification. Recording and tracking disputes over contract volume notifications. Import and export of contract volumetric profiles. Checking and visualisation of the notified position with that reported by the ECVAA. Discrepancy identification. Full support is provided for dispute management including Rejection Notices derived through comparisons with Forward Contract Reports and Acceptance Feedback Reports.
