2 Technology Transformation Team (T3) Meeting On Monday, June 8, 2015, Frankie and Thomas Hollister participated in a pre-evaluation conference call planning meeting with Vbrick s technical staff and members from the Instructional Technology department (Becky Cook and Stone). Vbrick is the proposed MediaCast replacement. MediaCast is currently used to film board meetings and other video events. During the conference call, we discussed the technical requirements needed to configure the equipment for an evaluation. If the VBrick evaluation is successful, Becky plans to make a formal recommendation, describing the committee s selection process, benefits of the VBrick solution, and then acquire a funding source. The following are the primary benefits to the VBrick solution. 1. VBrick is an end-to-end solution operable from virtually any source, such as live feeds from studio cameras and meetings or user-generated content, and compressed for live and on-demand delivery over IP networks.vbrick s ecdn delivers video across your wide area network in the most bandwidth-efficient way. Live streams are multicast from a central VBrick Distributed Media Engine (DME) to remote DMEs at the network s edge where on-demand video is captured and stored. 2. Video is also published securely across the Internet for external audiences, so employees on mobile devices, who are not served by multicast, can view it on the go. 3. VBrick s solution offers a cloud-native design providing flexibility to deploy in the cloud, or as hybrid solution with VBrick s management system in the cloud and the ecdn on-premises, behind the firewall.
